About the Role

This position is part of the Data Engineering and Analytics team within our Technology group. You'll bring your data engineering, collaboration, and analytical skills to help grow a data-driven culture by designing and delivering analytics solutions that make data analysis easier and more effective for arenaflex.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data solutions that power our business intelligence and analytics capabilities. Your work will directly impact how our organization makes critical decisions.

• Work closely with source data application teams and product owners to design, implement, and support analytics solutions that provide insights for better decision-making


• Implement data migration and data engineering solutions using cloud-native products and services, including Data Lake Storage, Data Factory, Functions, Event Hub, Stream Analytics, Databricks, and other modern data platforms


• Perform various aspects of the development lifecycle – including planning, cloud engineering (infrastructure, networking, security, and orchestration), ingestion, deployment, data modeling, testing, CI/CD pipelines, performance tuning, solutions, usage, BI, alerting, and support


• Provide technical leadership and collaborate within a team environment as well as work independently


• Be part of a DevOps team that fully owns and supports their product


• Implement batch and streaming data pipelines using cloud technologies


• Drive improvement of coding standards, best practices, and security and compliance guidelines


• Coach others on technical and domain skills to create multi-functional teams


• Participate in on-call rotation and provide support for critical production systems


• Contribute to architecture discussions and technical strategy planning

What You'll Need for Success

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Prior Work Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training


• 3 years of programming solution development using agile, DevOps, working in a product model that includes designing, developing, and implementing large-scale applications or data engineering solutions


• 3 years of data analysis experience using SQL


• 2 years of cloud development and data lake experience (preferably Microsoft Azure) including EventHub, Data Factory, Databricks, DevOps, Blob Storage, Data Lake, Power Applications, and Power BI

Technical Skills Required:

A combination of Development, Deployment, and Support experience in several of the following tools/platforms is required:

• Scripting: Python, Scala, Unix, SQL


• Data Platforms: Teradata, Cassandra, MongoDB, Oracle, SQL Server, ADLS, Snowflake


• Cloud Data Technologies: Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake, Azure Power Applications, Azure Functions


• CI/CD: GitHub, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Terraform


• BI Investigation Tools: Cognos, Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Denodo, and Grafana


• Data Warehousing: DataStage, Informatica


• Data Governance and Security: Informatica Axon and EDC, BigID


• Networking skills are a plus

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of programming solution development using agile, DevOps, product model that includes designing, developing, and implementing large-scale applications or data engineering solutions


• 5+ years of data analysis experience using SQL


• 3+ years of full-stack development experience, preferably in Azure


• 3+ years of cloud development and data lake experience (preferably Microsoft Azure) including EventHub, Data Factory, Functions, ADX, ASA, Databricks, DevOps, Blob Storage, Data Lake, Power Applications, and Power BI


• Aviation Industry Experience

Skills, Licenses, and Certifications

• Proficiency with the Azure Technology stack for data management, data ingestion, capture, processing, curation, and creating usage layers


• Proficiency in providing functional direction within Azure Cloud services


• Azure Development Track Certification (preferred)


• Scala Certification (preferred)
