What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities
Patient Experience and Engagement
- Greet patients warmly and offer friendly, professional assistance with their pharmacy needs and wellness inquiries
- Resolve patient concerns and questions promptly to ensure a positive and satisfying healthcare experience
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service best practices, including warm interpersonal habits such as welcoming demeanor, appropriate eye contact, politeness, and genuine care

Pharmacy Operations and Clinical Services
- Provide comprehensive patient counseling and answer questions regarding medication usage, side effects, drug interactions, contraindications, patient data privacy, generic alternatives, more affordable medication options, and over-the-counter products
- Refer patients to appropriate medical providers when necessary to ensure medications are taken correctly, health needs are addressed, and satisfaction with service is achieved
- Perform essential pharmacist duties including medication compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and comprehensive medication management
- Review, interpret, and accurately dispense prescribed medications as required by your responsibilities
- Ensure the pharmacy operates in full compliance with all applicable regulations, company policies, and established standards
- Assist pharmacy leadership in establishing procedures that promote efficient workflow, including assigning roles, scheduling activities, and encouraging team member input
- Assume responsibility for pharmacy opening and closing procedures, as well as shift change responsibilities
- Ensure strict adherence to all controlled substance regulations and the Good Faith Dispensing policy when filling prescriptions
- Maintain current knowledge of pharmacy information technology systems, including workflow, prescription fulfillment, billing, clinical documentation, training, inventory management, and point-of-sale operations
- Continuously seek new and improved methods to enhance productivity and patient care
- Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims to resolve patient issues and prevent payment rejections
- Follow up with clinical provider offices to clarify prescribed medications, dosages, refills, interactions, and allergies
- Propose alternative medications when appropriate and respond to clinical provider questions
- Perform clinical and wellness services, including vaccinations, diagnostic testing, disease state management, and other healthcare services
- Support pharmacy leadership in analyzing performance data, including pharmacy financials, customer service metrics, and policy compliance for pharmacy asset protection and inventory management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers
- Participate in community outreach activities to promote the pharmacy business, enhance learning opportunities, and contribute to healthier lives through better health outcomes
- Partner with centralized support services for patient enrollment, exception resolution, and patient issue resolution
- In virtual environments, conduct virtual product reviews while following specific company procedures and guidelines
People and Performance Management
- Assist the Pharmacy Manager with staff hiring and training initiatives
- Support the Pharmacy Manager in establishing clear expectations for staff performance through coaching, providing constructive feedback, monitoring customer service quality, and fostering team member development
- Promote teamwork and inspire colleagues by establishing clear expectations, monitoring progress, recognizing achievements, and cultivating a shared vision for success
Training and Professional Development
- Maintain current knowledge and required licensing, credentials, or certifications as established by federal and state regulations to offer clinical services
- Stay current with pharmacy and healthcare knowledge by reading relevant journals, company publications, and communications
- Remain aware of developments in retail and management practices, pursuing best practices that would enhance performance
- Obtain necessary certifications, education credits, and training, including learning modules, as required by the company
- Seek professional development opportunities by monitoring personal performance, requesting constructive feedback, and utilizing the Pharmacy Manager and District Manager as mentors
- Support the Pharmacy Manager and District Manager by communicating relevant corporate health and wellness services or procedure information to pharmacy staff
What We're Looking For: Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Pharmacist Degree from an accredited educational institution
- Licensure: Current pharmacist licensure in the states within the assigned region
- Experience: Experience performing prescription dispensing activities demonstrating strong knowledge of relevant state and federal controlled substance regulations
- Certification: Certified Immunizer or willingness to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a pharmacist in a retail setting, including prescription filling and verification, records and legal compliance, pharmacy operations, pharmacy programming and technology systems, and insurance processing
- Additional certifications in specialized areas such as diabetes management, medication therapy management, or chronic disease state management
- Previous experience with telepharmacy or remote patient care services
- Demonstrated success in customer service excellence and patient relationships
