Engineer I, Automation and Custom Applications

Magnite is the world’s largest independent sell-side advertising platform, seeking an Engineer I for Automation and Custom Applications. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain automation systems, create custom applications, and collaborate across teams to enhance productivity and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automation systems and backend services that enhance productivity and reliability
• Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to high-quality solutions under the guidance of senior engineers
• Build lightweight, purpose-built web applications that solve domain-specific challenges across Magnite’s ecosystem
• Use AI-assisted development tools (such as Cursor and Model Context Protocols) to accelerate coding, testing, and documentation
• Analyze how different teams work within Magnite’s products and systems
• Identify opportunities to automate or optimize manual processes, then implement reliable, scalable solutions to improve efficiency
• Partner with engineers, product managers, and operations teams to deeply understand Magnite’s products, user interactions, and the workflows that drive them
• Gain exposure to distributed systems, modern development environments, and automation frameworks while developing strong problem-solving and engineering fundamentals
• Participate in code reviews, share insights, and proactively suggest enhancements to our tools, infrastructure, and processes

Skills

• 0–2 years of professional or internship experience in software development
• A degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
• A solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and programming fundamentals
• Experience or interest in one or more of the following languages: Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Java
• Curiosity about LLMs and applied AI — prompt design, APIs, or workflow automation
• Exposure to development environments like Cursor or IDEs that integrate AI tools
• A collaborative mindset and strong communication skills
• A proactive, growth-oriented attitude — you're excited to learn from feedback and build new skills every week
• Experience in AI Agentic Workflows: Deep understanding of context window management, dynamic skill sets, and orchestration patterns for coordinating multiple specialized AI agents
