What You'll Do
As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you'll be at the forefront of our data transformation journey. Your technical expertise and collaborative spirit will be instrumental in shaping how we collect, process, and analyze data across the organization. While this list reflects the current position, please note that management may modify the role or assign additional responsibilities as deemed appropriate, in compliance with legal obligations including any collective bargaining commitments.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with source data application teams and product owners to design, implement, and support analytics solutions that provide actionable insights for better decision-making
- Executing data movement and data engineering solutions using Azure products and services, including Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Event Hub, Azure Stream Analytics, Azure Databricks, and traditional data warehouse tools
- Performing various aspects of the development lifecycle—spanning design, cloud engineering (infrastructure, networking, security, and governance), ingestion, deployment, data modeling, testing, CI/CD pipelines, performance tuning, solutions, usage, BI, alerting, and production support
- Providing technical leadership while collaborating within a team environment as well as working independently with minimal supervision
- Being part of a DevOps team that completely owns and supports their product from development through production
- Implementing batch and streaming data pipelines using cutting-edge cloud technologies
- Driving improvement of coding standards, best practices, and data protection and security guidelines across the organization
- Mentoring others on technical and domain skills to create versatile, multi-functional teams
- Contributing to the design and architecture of scalable data solutions that meet current and future business requirements
All You'll Need for Success
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Prior Work Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
- 3 years of programming solution development using Agile, DevOps, working in a product model that includes designing, developing, and implementing large-scale applications or data engineering solutions
- 3 years of data analysis experience using SQL
- 2 years of cloud development and data lake experience (preferably Microsoft Azure) including Azure EventHub, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure DevOps, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake, Azure Power Apps, and Power BI
Technical Skills Required:
A combination of Development, Deployment, and Support experience in several of the following tools/platforms is required:
- Scripting: Python, Spark, Unix, SQL
- Data Platforms: Teradata, Cassandra, MongoDB, Oracle, SQL Server, ADLS, Snowflake
- Azure Data Explorer: Network skills a plus
- Azure Cloud Technologies: Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake, Azure Power Apps, Azure Functions
- CI/CD: GitHub, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Terraform
- BI Investigation Tool Stack: Cognos, Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Denodo, and Grafana
- Data Warehousing: DataStage, Informatica
- Data Governance and Security: Informatica Axon and EDC, BigID
Preferred Qualifications
If you have these additional qualifications, you'll stand out even more:
- 5+ years of programming solution development using Agile, DevOps, product model that includes designing, developing, and implementing large-scale applications or data engineering solutions
- 5+ years of data analysis experience using SQL
- 3+ years of full-stack development experience, preferably in Azure
- 3+ years of cloud development and data lake experience (preferably Microsoft Azure) including Azure EventHub, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, ADX, ASA, Azure Databricks, Azure DevOps, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake, Azure Power Apps, and Power BI
- Aviation Industry Experience—understanding the unique challenges and opportunities in the airline sector is a significant advantage
Skills, Certifications, and Credentials
- Proficiency with the Azure Technology stack for data management, data ingestion, capture, processing, curation, and creating usage layers
- Expertise in providing functional direction within Azure Native cloud services
- Azure Development Track Certification (preferred)
- Spark Certification (preferred)
