What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Data Engineer specializing in Information Modeling at arenaflex, you'll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data models that form the backbone of our enterprise data infrastructure. This is a high-impact role that requires both technical excellence and strategic thinking.


  • Collaborate with Application Development Teams: Work closely with our application development teams to implement data strategies, build efficient data pipelines, and develop robust data models that support business objectives.

  • Design Logical and Physical Data Models: Create comprehensive logical and physical data models using industry best practices to ensure high data quality and support diverse use cases across the organization.

  • Develop and Maintain Enterprise Data Models: Create, enhance, and update logical and physical data models to support new and existing projects according to company standards and architectural guidelines.

  • Optimize for Modern Database Technologies: Design data modeling solutions optimized for relational, dimensional, and NoSQL databases, including big data technologies like Hadoop, Hive, and cloud platforms such as BigQuery and Snowflake.

  • Maintain Data Dictionary and Metadata: Keep applied, logical, and physical data models current along with corresponding metadata to ensure data governance and discoverability.

  • Establish Best Practices: Develop best practices for standard naming conventions and coding practices to ensure consistency and quality across all data models.

  • Promote Data Model Reuse: Identify and recommend opportunities for reuse of data models in new environments and applications.

  • Perform Data Model Reverse Engineering: Conduct reverse engineering of physical data models from databases and SQL scripts to understand existing structures.

  • Evaluate Data Quality: Assess data models and physical databases for changes, errors, and optimization opportunities.

  • Validate Business Data Objects: Ensure business data objects are accurate and complete before implementation.

  • Analyze Integration Challenges: Examine data-related system integration challenges and propose appropriate solutions that align with enterprise architecture.

  • Provide Technical Guidance: Guide System Analysts, Architects, Developers, and other stakeholders on project boundaries, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.

  • Review Code and Design: Review modifications to existing programs to improve efficiency and performance, and examine new application designs to recommend improvements.

  • Educational Background: Strong academic record with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech/MBA preferred).

  • Data Modeling Expertise: Solid knowledge of various data modeling techniques for data warehousing, including 3NF, dimensional modeling, and hybrid approaches.

  • Large-Scale Data Experience: Experience managing large-scale (100 TB+) data warehouses or operational data stores in production environments.

  • Modern Technology Proficiency: Hands-on experience building data models for MPP, relational, and NoSQL technologies, including BigData, Hive, SQL Server, Hadoop, Cassandra, and cloud databases like BigQuery and Snowflake.

  • Global Collaboration Skills: Experience working with globally distributed teams in a collaborative and productive manner, with the ability to navigate time zone differences and cultural diversity.

  • Exceptional Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate with and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
