[Remote] Mechanical Engineer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. SEH is an employee-owned engineering company dedicated to building better communities. They are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to assist in the design of HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial buildings, while also preparing construction documents and supporting energy efficiency efforts.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of heating, cooling, ventilation, and exhaust systems for commercial buildings
• Perform heating and cooling load calculations
• Select equipment (AHUs, RTUs, boilers, chillers, pumps, VAVs, etc.)
• Develop ductwork and piping layouts
• Support energy efficiency and code compliance efforts
• Assist in the design of domestic water, sanitary, storm, and specialty piping systems
• Size piping, pumps, water heaters, and fixtures
• Prepare plumbing plans, riser diagrams, and schedules
• Coordinate plumbing layouts with other trades
• Prepare construction documents using AutoCAD and/or Revit
• Review submittals and respond to RFIs
• Participate in field visits and construction coordination
• Work under senior engineers to develop technical skills

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Basic understanding of building systems and mechanical principles
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Revit
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Experience with load calculation software (e.g., HAP, Trace, EnergyPlus)
• Exposure to plumbing design standards and codes
• EIT certification or progress toward PE licensure
• Experience in consulting engineering or construction environments
• 0–4 years of experience in commercial HVAC and/or plumbing design (internship experience acceptable)
