Position Overview: Customer Engineer
As a Customer Engineer at arenaflex, you will work with the Business Development team to introduce arenaflex Cloud to prospective and existing customers. You will help clients understand the power of arenaflex Cloud, develop innovative cloud solutions and models to solve their business problems, and troubleshoot any technical roadblocks they encounter. This is a part-time position offering 8 hours per week with competitive compensation at $27/hour. The role can be performed remotely, providing flexibility while maintaining meaningful engagement with clients and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
As a Customer Engineer, you will be responsible for driving technical success for our customers through the following key activities:
- Business Development Support: Work collaboratively with the team to identify and qualify business opportunities, understand client technical pain points, and develop strategies to resolve technical blockers that prevent deal closure.
- Technical Relationship Management: Manage the technical relationship with arenaflex customers, including product briefings, solution presentations, proof-of-concept work, and coordination of additional technical resources as needed.
- Solution Demonstration: Work directly with customers to demonstrate and model arenaflex Cloud product integrations in client or partner environments, showcasing the value and capabilities of our platform.
- Migration Strategy Development: Suggest migration strategies, implementation models, migration tools, and cloud infrastructure to execute complete solutions using arenaflex Cloud. Travel to client sites, conferences, and other related events as required.
- Technical Enablement: Test and inspire clients and peers to solve problems with solutions using a comprehensive set of technical capabilities. Serve as a subject matter expert for both customers and internal teams.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Liaise with product marketing management and engineering teams to stay ahead of industry trends and propose improvements to arenaflex Cloud products.
- Customer Success: Listen to and deliver what is most beneficial for the client, acting as their trusted advisor throughout their cloud journey with arenaflex.
Minimum Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, a related technical field, or comparable practical experience demonstrating technical proficiency.
- Industry Experience: Four years of experience as a technical sales engineer in a cloud computing environment, or in a client-facing technical role where you served as the technical expert for customer engagements.
- Infrastructure Expertise: Hands-on experience with traditional data center models and components, including servers, storage, backup systems, networking, and virtualization technologies such as hypervisors, flexible computing, and containerized infrastructure.
- Remote Work Capability: Must be comfortable working in a remote environment while maintaining high levels of productivity and communication with distributed teams.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications will help you stand out and excel in this role:
- DevOps and Automation Experience: Experience with deployment approaches and technologies such as Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Deployment (CD), Chef, Puppet, Ansible, or similar automation tools.
- Operating System Proficiency: Experience with operating systems, Linux system administration, or enterprise applications. Strong command-line skills and the ability to navigate complex system configurations.
- Public Cloud Platforms: Demonstrated experience with public cloud platforms, infrastructure, storage, or platforms. Understanding of the competitive landscape and key differentiators among major cloud providers.
- Security Expertise: Experience in security matters including authentication protocols, identity and access management systems, encryption, securing cloud structures, networking, and endpoint security. Knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments.
- Networking Knowledge: Experience in areas of networking including Linux, software-defined networking, virtualization, open protocols, application acceleration and load balancing, DNS, virtual private networks, and their application to PaaS and IaaS technologies.
- Technical Curiosity: A passion for staying current with emerging technologies and a drive to continuously learn and expand your skill set in cloud computing and related fields.
