Associate Attorney

Segal McCambridge is a national litigation firm with a long-standing reputation for excellence in the courtroom, seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join their New York office focusing on general liability defense litigation. The role involves managing a diverse caseload of general liability matters while collaborating with a national team of seasoned litigators.

Responsibilities

• Managing cases from inception through resolution or trial
• Drafting pleadings, discovery, and motions
• Taking and defending depositions
• Conducting legal research and developing case strategies
• Participating in mediations, arbitrations, court conferences, and trials
• Communicating with clients, carriers, and opposing counsel
• Collaborating with partners and other team members on case strategy

Skills

• Active license to practice law in New York (required)
• 1+ year of civil litigation experience, ideally with a focus on general liability defense
• Strong litigation skills: pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, and client reporting
• Excellent legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills
• Ability to independently manage multiple cases and deadlines
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with mediation, arbitration, or trial is a plus
• Dual licensure in another jurisdiction is a bonus (CT preferred)
