The Kansas Office of Judicial Administration is seeking a Supreme Court Research Attorney I for the Kansas Supreme Court. This role involves performing sensitive legal research and preparing legal memoranda for justices on various legal matters under general supervision.


Responsibilities

  • Performs highly sensitive legal research and other professional legal services for the Kansas Supreme Court
  • Work includes the preparation of legal memoranda for justices of the Supreme Court on matters before them
  • Work is performed under general supervision of a justice or supervising attorney and is reviewed through conferences and written reports
  • Work involves highly confidential pending legal matters
  • Incumbent serves at the pleasure of the appointing justice
  • Reviews, studies, researches and annotates laws, court decisions, documents, opinions, briefs, and related legal authorities to process petitions for review to the Supreme Court, appeals, original actions, and other litigated matters
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Skills

  • Graduation from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the Kansas Bar or a temporary permit to practice law in Kansas
