Position Overview


We are seeking an experienced and motivated Staff Data Scientist to lead strategic cross-functional projects for both our energy and automotive business divisions. In this role, you will leverage advanced data science tools and methodologies to drive business process automation, support sales and service strategies, and uncover hidden patterns within our extensive datasets.

As a key member of our Business Examination group, you will work collaboratively with Data Analysts, Data Engineers, Machine Learning (ML) Engineers, and Product Managers to democratize data across the organization and enable data-driven decision-making at every level.

What You'll Do


As a Staff Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will be instrumental in advancing our data science initiatives. Your responsibilities will span the entire lifecycle of data science projects:


  • End-to-End Project Leadership: Contribute to all phases of data science projects, from translating complex business challenges into data science problems to conducting comprehensive data analysis, modeling, and delivering actionable solutions that drive measurable business value.

  • Data Pipeline Development: Create and maintain complex data pipelines that support our team's mission in democratizing data and enabling an information-driven organization. Collaborate effectively with Data Analysts, Data Engineers, ML Engineers, and Product Managers to ensure seamless data flow and accessibility.

  • Statistical Modeling & NLP: Develop and apply sophisticated statistical models and Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques, including topic modeling, sentiment analysis, text classification, text summarization, and other advanced methods to extract valuable insights and patterns from unstructured text data.

  • Insight Visualization: Communicate and visualize the results of data analysis in a clear, concise, and compelling manner that resonates with stakeholders across all levels of technical expertise.

  • LLM Applications: Summarize customer journeys and conversations using foundational or fine-tuned Large Language Models (LLMs) to enhance customer understanding and operational efficiency.

  • AI-Powered Product Development: Demonstrate experience in envisioning and delivering products powered by machine learning, including search and recommendation systems, natural language processing, and generative AI (large language models/LLMs), as well as other data-intensive systems.

  • Customer Lifecycle Strategy: Build predictive models to guide our comprehensive customer lifecycle strategy, from acquisition to retention and loyalty development.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Effectively convey critical insights to all levels of the organization, adapting your communication style to audiences with varying degrees of data science understanding and backgrounds.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with management, engineering, and other stakeholders to deliver meaningful business insights that inform strategic decisions.

  • Advanced Analytics: Apply various machine learning, advanced analytics, and visualization techniques across diverse datasets throughout the organization to solve complex business challenges.

What You'll Bring


We're looking for a candidate who combines technical excellence with strong business acumen. The ideal candidate will bring:


  • Educational Background: A Master's degree or equivalent experience (3+ years) in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Business Analysis, Operations Research, Statistics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Economics, or Engineering.

  • Results-Oriented Mindset: Strong results orientation with keen business insight and deep expertise in data science methodologies and applications.

  • Communication Excellence: Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels, from technical teams to executive leadership.

  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrated history of extracting actionable data insights and building ML models, particularly in the business analytics domain. Experience upskilling teams in key ML areas such as forecasting, predictive modeling, descriptive analytics, or Natural Language Processing (NLP).

  • Technical Proficiency: Mastery of SQL and Python, with particular expertise in standard data science libraries and frameworks including pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch, and PySpark.

  • Visualization Skills: Proficiency in visualization tools such as Tableau, Streamlit, or similar platforms to create compelling data narratives.

  • Data Wrapping Expertise: Mastery in data wrangling and analyzing massive, complex datasets, both structured and unstructured.

  • Self-Motivation & Autonomy: Ability to self-start and work independently in unstructured environments while navigating ambiguity. Capable of bringing a project from concept to execution (0 to 1) while introducing structure and clarity.

  • Problem-Solving Excellence: Strong problem-framing, critical thinking, and project management skills, with the ability to pivot quickly when circumstances change.

  • Multi-Project Management: Capacity to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects effectively in a fast-paced environment.
