Position Overview
We are seeking a talented and motivated Data Scientist - Real World Evidence to join our Clinical Data Science division. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for generating high-quality Real World Evidence through advanced research methodologies and innovative approaches in the clinical trials space. You will serve as a crucial member of our Scientific Projects team, working to influence decision-making both internally and externally through the use of creative data science and technology.

Key Responsibilities
- Data Mining and Preparation: Mine raw datasets to deliver normalized, analysis-ready patient cohorts from internal data resources or licensed platforms, analyze and interpret results, and help shape overall analysis strategy
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with members of the arenaflex Clinical Trials team to deliver actionable insights from real-world, clinical, and other data sources to support biopharmaceutical RWE and clinical trial requests. Potential projects include analysis of unmet needs, safety and efficacy in specific disease states, treatment patterns and healthcare burden, and cost-effectiveness modeling
- Data Management: Clean, transform, and store data into an integrated data lake for future analysis and broader team utilization
- Statistical Analysis: Perform data mining and statistical analysis to analyze RWE/Real World Data (RWD) to discover new insights regarding patient populations and treatment outcomes
- Capability Development: Support the development of real-world data, analytics, and platform capabilities, applying advanced analysis and tools to address scientific inquiries from biopharmaceutical organizations
- Research Execution: Collaborate on design and execution of outcomes research studies
- Quality Assurance: Ensure high-quality, rigorous, and readily interpretable outputs from RWE reviews and investigations
- Reporting and Visualization: Build dashboards, analyses, and reports for internal and external use
- Vendor Evaluation: Conduct due diligence on new real-world data provider vendors and drive RWD quality assessments to inform project decisions
Essential Qualifications
- Statistical Expertise: Experience designing and executing robust and reproducible statistical analyses in the context of epidemiology and observational research with healthcare data
- Statistical Methods Knowledge: Familiarity with common statistical testing techniques including generalized linear models, clustering and segmentation, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time series analysis, and survival analysis
- Large Data Handling: Experience processing large data from diverse data sources
- Data Privacy: Experience handling protected patient health information (PHI) with strict adherence to privacy regulations and best practices
- Visualization Tools: Knowledge of at least one of the following: Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, or other BI/insight tools
- Education: Bachelor's degree in statistics, biostatistics, data science, computer science, mathematics, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Degree: PhD or Master's degree in statistics/biostatistics, computer science, mathematics, systems engineering, biomedical engineering, or related field
- Healthcare Data Expertise: Proficiency in EMR/Health IT, disease registries, and insurance claims databases
- Clinical Data Standards: Knowledge of clinical data standards, clinical terminologies, and controlled vocabularies used in healthcare data and ontologies (ICD-9/10/ReadCode)
- Regulatory Experience: Experience in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) as well as regulatory compliance guidelines for real-world evidence studies or clinical trials (e.g., ISO, MDD/MDR, CFR)
- Innovative Data Collection: Experience working with alternative data sources and alternative methods for clinical data collection, especially those enabled by technology platforms and/or solutions
- Advanced Analytics: Experience with experimental design, Bayesian modeling, sequential data, and computational statistics
- Continuous Learning: Strong understanding of statistics and machine learning methods, with the ability to continuously self-learn technical and non-technical skills
Required Skills and Competencies
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SAS
- StrongSQL skills for database querying and manipulation
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
