Position Overview: SEL Intervention Teacher

As an SEL Intervention Teacher at arenaflex, you will play a vital role in our Small Group Intervention program, specifically targeting students who need Tier 2 support. Tier 2 interventions are designed for students who have been identified as needing additional social emotional support beyond what is provided in the general education classroom. These students have specific skill deficits that, when addressed through targeted instruction, can help them achieve on-level academic success and develop healthy coping mechanisms, relationship skills, and self-awareness.

You will deliver in-person instruction at schools in the Chattanooga area, working with students across multiple grade bands (K-8). Your primary responsibility will be to implement our prescribed SEL curriculum using the gradual release model of instruction—a proven pedagogical approach that moves students from teacher-guided learning to independent practice. This method ensures that students not only learn essential social emotional skills but also internalize and apply them in real-world situations.

Key Responsibilities

As an SEL Intervention Teacher, your daily duties will include:

  • Instructing small groups of students in a face-to-face school setting, focusing on targeted social emotional intervention for students in grades K-8

  • Delivering designated instructional content in social emotional learning areas, including emotional regulation, self-awareness, relationship building, responsible decision-making, and social awareness, using company-designed materials and evidence-based educational strategies

  • Utilizing company-provided curriculum to develop and maintain individualized, skill-appropriate lesson plans that address each student's unique needs

  • Ensuring supervision of students at all times, including safely escorting students to and from classrooms and learning stations, which may involve climbing stairs and light lifting

  • Performing data entry tasks in a timely manner to meet all deadlines, including student attendance records, online pre/post testing, progress reports, parent and classroom teacher communication forms, and compliance documentation

  • Scheduling and attending parent meetings and conferences to discuss student progress, celebrate achievements, and collaborate on strategies for continued growth

  • Establishing and maintaining student forms and files as required by arenaflex, local school policies, state regulations, and federal agencies

  • Maintaining consistent communication with arenaflex supervisors, classroom teachers, school principals, and parents to ensure a coordinated approach to student support

  • Participating in ongoing professional development and training opportunities to enhance your skills and stay current with best practices in social emotional learning

  • Other duties as assigned to support the success of our intervention programs and the students we serve

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • A genuine passion for helping students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally

  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, teachers, and administrators

  • Reliability and professionalism in maintaining consistent attendance and meeting deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications will strengthen your application:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for data entry and lesson plan preparation

  • Previous experience with social emotional learning curricula or SEL intervention programs

  • Understanding of the gradual release model of instruction and Tier 2 intervention strategies

  • Experience working with at-risk youth or students with diverse learning needs
