What You'll Do at arenaflex

As a Senior Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our analytical capabilities and driving innovation across the retail division. Your expertise in mathematical and statistical modeling will be instrumental in developing solutions that optimize operations, enhance customer experiences, and deliver measurable business value.

Key Responsibilities

• Algorithm Development: Lead the design and implementation of advanced forecasting algorithms that leverage mathematical and statistical principles to solve complex retail business challenges. You will create long-term prediction models that inform inventory management, demand forecasting, and supply chain optimization.


• Process Automation: Transform manual retail operations by developing automated decision-making systems powered by sophisticated mathematical and statistical models. Your work will reduce human intervention in routine processes while improving accuracy and efficiency.


• Data Analysis & Interpretation: Collect, organize, analyze, interpret, and summarize massive volumes of time-series data to generate key insights that drive innovation. You will identify patterns, trends, and anomalies that lead to new applications and business opportunities.


• Business Problem Solving: Analyze complex and rich datasets, examine business problems, develop problem statements, define meaningful metrics, and conduct feasibility studies that guide strategic initiatives.


• Exploratory Data Analysis: Perform comprehensive data exploration tasks, extract meaningful insights, and create compelling storyboards that communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.


• Root-Cause Analysis: Present clear and accurate root-cause analysis to data scientists and leadership team members, translating complex findings into actionable recommendations.


• Machine Learning Pipeline Development: Build training workflows for machine learning algorithms operating on tens of millions of data points. Create end-to-end algorithmic solutions including data understanding, feature engineering, model development, validation, and production deployment.


• Large-Scale Implementation: Lead and develop large-scale implementations of machine learning models and algorithmic solutions using rich retail data sources.


• Model Performance Optimization: Continuously review model performance, identify improvement opportunities, and implement enhancements that increase accuracy and reliability.


• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with our global AI team, scientists, engineers, and business partners to identify and lead new opportunities that deliver measurable business value.


• Technology Stack Development: Utilize your expertise in machine learning, probability theory and statistics, optimization theory, deep learning, data pipeline engineering, distributed systems, database architecture, linear programming, and data mining to build robust analytical solutions.


• Programming & Development: Apply your skills in Python, SQL, R, Spark, C, JavaScript, Scala, Hadoop, Hive, HTML, MATLAB, Java, and Command Shell programming to prototype individual components of data science solutions.


• Best Practices Advocacy: Champion excellent software engineering practices throughout the organization and prototype individual components of data science solutions.

What We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role at arenaflex, you must possess:

• Educational Background: A minimum of a Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative field.


• Experience: At least seven (7) years of experience as a data or machine learning scientist (or similar title) with a proven track record of:

  • Driving the development and implementation of analytical and data science modeling solutions
  
  
  • Applying data mining, machine learning, or text mining techniques
  
  
  • Utilizing mathematical concepts, algorithms, and computational complexity analysis
  
  
  • Collaborating with colleagues to deliver business value
  
  
  • Presenting findings and reviews to stakeholders
  
  
  
  


• Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in Python, SQL, R, SAS, risk assessment, and data manipulation.


• Data Handling Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with massive datasets and solving complex business problems.


• End-to-End Development: At least two (2) years of experience delivering data science solutions including problem statement development, feature engineering, model development, assessment and testing, and production deployment.


• Production Environment: Experience with productionizing, auditing, and monitoring data science models in online environments.


• Big Data Technologies: Working knowledge of Hive or Hadoop, machine learning, text mining, and Spark.

Alternative Qualification Pathway

We understand that exceptional talent comes in various forms. In lieu of the seven years of experience with a Master's degree, arenaflex will also consider candidates who possess:

• A doctorate (PhD) in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative field, AND


• At least four (4) years of experience as a data or machine learning scientist demonstrating the same competencies outlined above.
