What You'll Do

As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be responsible for end-to-end data pipeline management and database architecture. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:


  • Designing and executing ETL/ELT data pipelines: Build scalable and efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading processes that handle massive volumes of data reliably and performantly.

  • Database architecture and implementation: Design and implement database schemas, tables, and views optimized for performance and analytics needs across multiple environments.

  • Batch processing with Apache Airflow: Create and maintain robust batch processing workflows using Airflow to automate data movement and transformation tasks.

  • Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with Studios and Enterprise Innovation teams to gather data requirements, develop data validation scripts, and ensure data quality and integrity.

  • Environment deployment: Deploy and manage data solutions across development, QA/UAT, and production environments while ensuring smooth transitions and minimal downtime.

  • Performance optimization: Develop and optimize SQL queries with a focus on runtime efficiency and cost optimization in cloud-based environments.

  • Best practices advocacy: Lead initiatives to establish and promote best practices around data engineering software development processes within the organization.

  • Technology innovation: Work with cutting-edge technologies including SQL, Python, Docker, GitLab, Snowflake, Looker, PostgreSQL, and cloud platforms like AWS.

Required Skills and Experience

To thrive in this role at arenaflex, you'll need to bring a strong technical foundation and hands-on experience with modern data engineering tools and methodologies:


  • Programming expertise: Minimum 2 years of professional experience with Python, including data manipulation, automation, and pipeline development.

  • SQL proficiency: At least 2 years of experience with SQL query development, focusing on performance tuning and cost-effective solutions.

  • Pipeline development: 2+ years of experience designing, building, and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines in production environments.

  • Cloud platforms: 2 years of experience working with cloud-based technologies, preferably AWS and S3 storage solutions.

  • Stream processing: Experience with Apache Airflow and/or Databricks for orchestrating data workflows and processing streaming data.

  • Relational databases: 2+ years designing, building, and managing relational databases with strong understanding of schema design and optimization.

  • Version control: Experience with GitLab/GitHub for code management, collaboration, and CI/CD integration.

  • Big data technologies: Hands-on experience working with large datasets and big data technologies, preferably cloud-based platforms like Snowflake or Databricks.

  • Data infrastructure: Minimum 2 years of experience in a Data Engineering role with practical knowledge of data lakes, data warehouses, and application databases.

  • Cloud platform experience: At least 2 years managing and working with cloud platforms for data storage and processing.

Preferred Qualifications
