We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and passionate Senior Data Engineer to join our Information Design group within our Data and Decision Sciences division. Position Overview
As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and maintaining our enterprise-wide data infrastructure. You will be responsible for creating efficient ETL/ELT data pipelines, designing and implementing database schemas, tables, and views, and developing batch processes using modern data orchestration tools.
This role requires a strategic thinker who can collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Studio teams and Project Innovation colleagues, to understand data requirements and deliver scalable solutions. You'll be working with a diverse technology stack and will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on how our organization leverages data for decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL/ELT data pipelines that efficiently process large volumes of data from multiple sources to destination systems.
- Database Architecture: Design and implement database schemas, tables, views, and indexes optimized for performance and scalability.
- Data Orchestration: Build and manage batch processes using Apache Airflow and other workflow orchestration tools to automate data workflows.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Work with cloud-based technologies, particularly AWS S3, to build and manage data lakes and data warehouses.
- Collaboration: Partner with Studio and Project Innovation teams to gather data requirements, create data validation scripts, and review data quality.
- Environment Management: Ensure seamless deployment across multiple environments including Development, QA/UAT, and Production.
- Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code using SQL, Python, and other programming languages.
- Best Practices: Drive best practices in data engineering, including coding standards, code reviews, and documentation.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize pipeline performance to ensure efficient data processing and minimal latency.
- Technology Evaluation: Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate new tools that can improve our data infrastructure.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 2+ years of professional experience in a Data Engineering role.
- 2+ years of experience with SQL and relational database design.
- 2+ years of experience designing, building, and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines.
- 2+ years of experience working with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
- 2+ years of experience with cloud-based data storage solutions including data lakes, data warehouses, and application databases.
- 2+ years of experience using Gitlab/Github for version control and collaborative development.
- 2+ years of experience with containerization using Docker.
- Strong proficiency in Python programming language.
- Experience working with large datasets and big data technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration.
- Experience with Snowflake cloud data warehouse.
- Experience with Databricks for big data processing.
- Experience with Looker for business intelligence and visualization.
- Knowledge of streaming data technologies and real-time data processing.
- Experience in media, streaming, or digital advertising industries.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL and other relational database systems.
