The Workers' Compensation Return-to-Work Facilitator plays a crucial role in coordinating return-to-work initiatives for injured employees, working closely with various stakeholders to ensure safe and timely reintegration into the workplace.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate return‑to‑work efforts within a Workers’ Compensation environment under the direction of the RN Case Manager
- Focus on timely receipt of DWC‑25 forms and other medical documentation to support safe and appropriate return‑to‑work outcomes
- Communicate injured employee job requirements and physical demands to treating medical providers
- Utilize available vocational tools to assist with return‑to‑work planning
- Identify potential barriers or issues related to disability status and escalate to the RN Case Manager as needed
- Schedule medical appointments when required
- Obtain medical records and work status documentation
- Request and collect job descriptions from employers or clients
- Handle correspondence, letters, and mail on behalf of the RN Case Manager
- Document all activities, notes, and updates accurately within the claims management system
- Maintain assigned diaries and ensure tasks are completed timely and in accordance with performance standards
- Create, edit, revise, scan, copy, and organize documentation as needed
- Serve as backup for Workers’ Compensation intake calls, adhering to required timeframes and performance standards
- Gather and evaluate information from injured workers and employers to determine injury level and category using established criteria
- Enter First Report of Injury (FROI) data accurately into the system
- Follow State of Florida phone‑tree procedures, including emergency protocols
- Route intake calls to the appropriate triage unit member for further handling
Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a medical office or medical terminology‑focused role
- Working knowledge of the Florida Workers' Compensation system and applicable statutes
- Strong understanding of medical terminology
- Experience interacting with medical provider offices
- Proficient in data entry and Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with direction from a TCM or supervisor
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Customer‑focused, dependable, and collaborative team player
- Ability to meet and maintain required performance standards
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
