CGI is one of the largest IT and business consulting services firms in the world, and they are seeking a Junior Automation Tester to join their quality engineering team. The role involves supporting the design, development, and execution of automated test scripts, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality software releases.
Responsibilities
- Support the design, development, and execution of automated test scripts for web, mobile, and/or enterprise applications
- Assist in maintaining and enhancing test automation frameworks under guidance from senior team members
- Execute manual test cases where required and help transition suitable scenarios into automation
- Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives
- Log, track, and retest defects using defect management tools, ensuring clear documentation and reproducibility
- Validate application functionality across multiple environments, browsers, devices, or configurations
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional team members to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria
- Contribute to test status reporting, highlighting progress, risks, and blockers in a timely manner
- Follow established testing standards, processes, and best practices while continuously seeking improvement
- Learn and apply secure, accessible, and performance-aware testing principles as part of quality delivery
Skills
- Bachelor's degree, diploma, or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 0–3 years of experience in software testing or quality assurance
- Foundational knowledge of software testing concepts, including test cases, test plans, and defect lifecycle
- Basic understanding or hands-on exposure to test automation tools or frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, etc.)
- Familiarity with at least one programming or scripting language (such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or similar)
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Eagerness to learn, take feedback constructively, and grow within a collaborative team environment
