Financial Analyst, Real Estate Valuations & Modelling - Toronto

They are seeking a Financial Analyst to join their Real Estate Valuations & Modelling team, where the individual will support valuation engagements and contribute to client deliverables while gaining hands-on experience in delivering high-quality valuation services.


Responsibilities

  • Work extensively with Excel to perform complex financial analysis
  • Develop proficiency with BDO’s real estate valuation workbooks, mapping, and research programs
  • Conduct market research and collect/collate relevant sales comparables
  • Carry out land use research, including mapping, usage, official plans, and zoning by-laws
  • Participate in site inspections as required (some travel may be necessary)
  • Contribute to the preparation of appraisal reports, client presentations, and proposals
  • Liaise with market participants and clients for research and reporting purposes
  • Support business development activities by building relationships with current and prospective clients, as well as other BDO service groups
  • Perform additional valuation-related tasks as assigned (audit assist, market research reporting, etc)
  • If interested, contribute to Business Valuations for tax planning, financial reporting, financial planning, and transaction advisory purposes

Skills

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or another related field
  • Willingness to work towards an AACI designation is an asset
  • 0-2 years of work experience in appraisal, asset management, investments, consulting, etc is considered an asset
  • An understanding and ability to read financial statements, and other pertinent documents such as leases, sales agreements, and research reports
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, especially Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • A valid Canadian G-level driver's license with access to a car is required
