Position Overview: Staff Engineer – Enterprise Security

The IT Security function at arenaflex carries the expansive responsibility of delivering data security, practice management and compliance, and data loss prevention throughout our enterprise. As a Staff Engineer, you will play a critical role in advancing this mission.
- Lead Technical Security Initiatives: Design, develop, and implement security solutions that protect arenaflex's infrastructure, applications, and data assets across cloud and on-premises environments.
- Architect Security Frameworks: Create and maintain security architectures that align with industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and business objectives.
- Mentor Engineering Teams: Provide technical guidance and leadership to junior engineers, fostering a culture of excellence, continuous learning, and security awareness.
- Drive End-to-End Project Delivery: Lead complex security projects from conception through implementation, ensuring timely delivery, quality outcomes, and alignment with organizational goals.
- Evaluate Security Solutions: Assess, test, and evaluate new security applications, tools, and processes for threats, vulnerabilities, and compatibility with existing security standards and controls.
- Collaborate Across Functions: Work effectively with cross-functional teams including software engineers, business programs, and other security professionals to enhance our security posture.
- Threat Analysis and Response: Conduct malware analysis, file analysis, reverse engineering, static and dynamic analysis to identify and mitigate security risks.
- Infrastructure Security: Oversee network security initiatives including firewall management, Network Access Control (NAC), and cloud security implementations.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure adherence to API-based security and compliance standards while maintaining robust Unix/Linux and Windows operating system security.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of long-term security strategies and roadmap initiatives that align with business growth and technology evolution.

- Subject Matter Expertise: Demonstrated expertise as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in network security technologies, including Firewalls, Network Access Control (NAC), and Cloud Security platforms.
- Security Analysis Skills: Proven experience in malware analysis, file analysis, reverse engineering, static analysis, and dynamic analysis techniques.
- Network Troubleshooting: Strong network communication troubleshooting experience with solid TCP/IP capabilities and comprehensive knowledge of SMTP, IMAP, HTTP, and other web protocols.
- Operating Systems Proficiency: In-depth understanding of Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems, including security configurations, hardening, and scripting capabilities.
- API Security: Knowledge of API-based security principles and compliance standards relevant to enterprise environments.
- Programming and Scripting: Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and security tool development.
- Leadership Capabilities: Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams, with experience driving projects from initiation to completion independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or similar platforms.
- Cloud security certifications (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud security certifications).
- Experience in retail or large-scale enterprise environments.
