Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer with strong analytical, communication, and project management skills to join our team. This role will be a key member of the Data Leadership team, working closely with business partners, software development engineers, and research teams. You will design, architect, migrate, and implement cutting-edge solutions that help us deliver an exceptional customer experience.

In this position, you will work with a complex data environment, utilizing the right architecture to manage data and support various analytical use cases including business reporting, production data pipelines, machine learning, optimization models, statistical models, and simulations. Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be responsible for designing and implementing data solutions that meet our evolving business needs. Your daily activities will include:


  • Data Architecture Design: Architect and build robust data warehouse and data lake solutions that support our organization's analytical needs. Ensure data quality, accessibility, and security across all platforms.

  • ETL Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and maintain efficient ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines to move data between systems. Optimize pipeline performance and ensure data integrity throughout the process.

  • Data Modeling: Create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models. Ensure data models align with business requirements and support efficient querying and analysis.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with business partners, software development engineers, and research teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that exceed expectations.

  • Technical Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members on best practices, coding standards, and architectural patterns. Foster a culture of technical excellence.

  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize data system performance, identifying bottlenecks and implementing solutions to improve efficiency and scalability.

  • Security & Compliance: Ensure data security and privacy compliance across all data infrastructure. Implement best practices for data protection and access control.

  • Innovation: Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies. Propose and implement innovative solutions that advance our data capabilities.

  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for data systems, processes, and solutions.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly language. Present findings and recommendations to leadership and non-technical stakeholders.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and demonstrate proven expertise in the following areas:


  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.

  • Data Modeling & Warehousing: Extensive experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines. Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, data vault, and other modeling methodologies.

  • SQL Expertise: Proficiency in SQL with the ability to write complex queries, optimize performance, and troubleshoot issues. Experience with both relational and columnar databases.

  • Programming Skills: Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS. Ability to write efficient, maintainable code.

  • Mentorship: Demonstrated experience coaching and mentoring team members on best practices. Strong ability to share knowledge and develop others.

  • Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to approach complex challenges methodically and develop effective solutions.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Big Data Technologies: Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Flash, EMR, or similar frameworks. Understanding of distributed computing principles.

  • Large-Scale Data Warehousing: Experience working with large-scale data warehouses and petabyte-scale data environments. Knowledge of cloud-based data warehousing solutions.

  • Cloud Platforms: Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. Understanding of cloud-native data services and architectures.

  • Machine Learning: Familiarity with machine learning workflows and experience supporting ML/AI data pipelines. Understanding of feature engineering and model training data requirements.

  • Real-Time Processing: Experience with real-time data processing frameworks such as Kafka, Spark Streaming, or Flink.

  • Industry Recognition: Certifications in relevant technologies (AWS Data Analytics, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer, etc.).
