Position Overview: Realtime Technical Services Coordinator

As a Realtime Technical Services Coordinator at arenaflex, you will serve as a vital link between our clients, captioners, and technical infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the seamless delivery of closed captions for live television networks, providing exceptional support to both internal teams and external clients. This role requires a unique blend of technical proficiency, communication skills, and the ability to thrive under pressure during live broadcasts.

Key Responsibilities

The scope of work for this position encompasses a wide range of technical and customer-focused duties. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Live Caption Setup and Configuration: Set up and configure closed captioning systems for live television networks, ensuring all equipment and software are properly initialized before broadcast begins. This includes verifying connection stability, testing caption encoding, and confirming that all parameters meet industry standards and client specifications.
• On-Air Continuity Management: Monitor and ensure the continuous delivery of captions throughout all shows and programming being captioned. You will be responsible for identifying and addressing any interruptions or quality issues in real-time, maintaining flawless captioning coverage from start to finish.
• Scripted Content Research and Transcription: Research and accurately transcribe scripted portions of programming, including dialogue, speaker identification, and non-speech elements such as [Music], [Applause], and [Silence]. Your transcription work will serve as the foundation for accurate and timely caption delivery.
• Quality Assurance and File Verification: Apply meticulous attention to detail to verify that caption files are correct and meet all broadcast standards before going live. This includes checking timing, positioning, spelling, grammar, and formatting to ensure viewers receive the highest quality captioning experience.
• Technical Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve client issues promptly and effectively to ensure uninterrupted continuity of closed captions. You will diagnose technical problems, implement solutions, and coordinate with internal technical support teams when necessary.
• Collaboration with Realtime Captioners: Partner closely with our team of Realtime Captioners to set up, test, and verify captions for their scheduled programs. This collaboration ensures that captioners have the necessary tools, connections, and support to deliver accurate real-time captioning.
• Client and Captioner Support: Assist clients and Captioners with various questions regarding connections, caption placement, software usage, and technical specifications. Your excellent communication skills will be essential in providing responsive and helpful support.
• Shift Coverage and Flexibility: This position requires working during nighttime hours, including weekends and holidays, to support our 24/7 operations. We are specifically seeking candidates available for the 8PM-4AM or 9PM-5AM shifts.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Education: High school diploma is required. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Communications, Media Studies, or Technical Services is preferred and will be considered an asset.
• Shift Availability: Must be able to work variable shifts, including late evenings, weekends, and holidays. This is a non-negotiable requirement as live captioning services operate around the clock.
• Language Skills: Strong English grammar and proofreading skills are essential. You will be working with written content that will be viewed by millions, making accuracy paramount.
• Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications is required. Comfort with learning new software and technical systems is crucial.
• Typing Ability: Moderate typing ability with a minimum speed of 35 words per minute is required. Higher typing speeds will be considered a significant advantage.
• Work Style: Ability to work effectively both independently on assigned tasks and cooperatively as part of a dynamic team. You must be self-motivated and able to manage your time efficiently.
• Technical Background: Previous experience with video equipment is helpful but not required. We provide comprehensive training for qualified candidates.
• Customer Service Experience: Previous customer service or retail experience is a plus. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to remain professional under pressure are highly valued.

Certification Requirements: Must successfully pass arenaflex proficiency tests, which assess typing speed, grammar accuracy, and technical aptitude.
