This apprenticeship program provides you with an entry point to a meaningful career in healthcare by guiding you through the steps toward becoming a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certified Pharmacy Technician.

Our program supports you in maintaining the high level of skill required in the pharmacy care industry, arming you with a nationally recognized, portable credential that will help you advance your career for years to come. Whether you are new to working in pharmacies or are an experienced Pharmacy Technician, arenaflex will train you to apply your skills and abilities to serve and care for our patients and clients.

The courses, learning activities, and resources provided to you in our pharmacy technician training program are designed to offer you both foundational and advanced knowledge, skills, and on-the-job experiences you need to prepare to become a licensed pharmacy technician. Upon completion of the arenaflex pharmacy technician apprenticeship program, your experience qualifies for eight (8) university credit hours as recognized by the American Council on Education (ACE). This coursework is recommended for three semester hours at the lower-division baccalaureate/associate degree category and five semester hours in the upper-division baccalaureate degree category for a total of eight semester hours.

Key Responsibilities: Making a Difference Every Day

As a Pharmacy Technician at arenaflex, your responsibilities will be diverse and meaningful:

• Patient Care Excellence: Under the supervision of a pharmacist, assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and arenaflex policy. Be the friendly face that greets patients and provides exceptional service.


• Prescription Processing: Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions accurately. Enter patient and drug records, ensuring information is entered correctly.


• Medication Preparation: Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical tablets. Verify medication accuracy and check for possible interactions to ensure patient safety.


• Quality Assurance: Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately. Adhere to company rules and procedures regarding pharmacy errors and the quality improvement program.


• Customer Experience: Engage customers and patients by greeting them and providing assistance with services and products. Resolve customer issues and answer inquiries to ensure a positive customer experience.


• Financial Operations: Register all related income on assigned cash register, collect and handle cash as required. Take customers to over-the-counter aisles when possible to assist in finding products.


• Communication: Handle telephone calls that do not require the personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.


• Claims Processing: Correct and resubmit manual claims for third-party prescription program services in a timely and efficient manner. Perform other clerical duties as assigned by the pharmacy manager.


• Inventory Management: Assist and support Pharmacy department in stock management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of prescription drugs. Maintain knowledge of company asset protection techniques.


• Clinical Support: May assist pharmacists in administering medical services, including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other medical services as required.


• Community Relations: Assist Pharmacy manager and staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers.


• Workplace Maintenance: Assist with indoor and outdoor maintenance by ensuring the pharmacy department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat, and orderly in condition and appearance.

Essential Qualifications: What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Dedication to customer service and patient care
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic healthcare setting

Preferred Qualifications:

• Six months or more of experience in a retail environment
• Previous work experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting
• Strong math skills to fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring, and weighing medicines
• Proficient computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory management
• PTCB certification (or willingness to obtain through our training program)
