Position Overview

We are looking for an Information Researcher - Real World Evidence who will be responsible for generating Real World Evidence through advanced research and innovative methodologies in the clinical trials space. This role is integral to our Scientific Solutions team, and the ideal candidate will be able to influence internal and external decision-making through the use of creative data science and technology.

In this position, you will lead sophisticated data analysis initiatives to help address critical business questions facing our pharmaceutical and healthcare clients. You will report directly to the Executive Director of Clinical Data Science and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver actionable insights that shape drug development strategies and patient care approaches.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Mining and Analysis: Mine raw datasets to deliver normalized, analysis-ready patient cohorts from in-house data resources or licensed platforms, analyze and interpret results, and help shape overall analysis strategy for RWE studies.


• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with members of the arenaflex Clinical Trials team to deliver meaningful insights from real-world, clinical, and other data sources to support biopharmaceutical RWE and clinical trial requests. Potential projects include analysis of unmet needs, safety and efficacy of treatments in specific disease states, treatment patterns and healthcare economic burden, and cost-effectiveness modeling.


• Data Management: Clean, transform, and store data into a centralized data lake for future analysis and broader team utilization, ensuring data integrity and accessibility across the organization.


• Statistical Analysis: Perform data mining and statistical analysis to analyze RWE/Real World Data (RWD) to discover new insights regarding patient populations and treatment outcomes, utilizing advanced statistical methodologies.


• Capability Development: Support the development of real-world data, analysis, and platform capabilities, applying advanced analytics and tools to answer scientific questions from biopharmaceutical organizations.


• Research Design: Collaborate on the design and execution of outcomes research studies, ensuring methodological rigor and scientific validity.


• Quality Assurance: Ensure high-quality, rigorous, and readily interpretable outputs from RWE reviews and investigations, maintaining the highest standards of scientific excellence.


• Reporting and Visualization: Build dashboards, analyses, and reports for both internal and external use, translating complex findings into actionable recommendations.


• Vendor Evaluation: Conduct due diligence on new real-world data providers and vendors, driving RWD quality assessments to inform investment decisions.

Essential Qualifications

• Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline.


• Technical Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working with programming languages such as R, Python, or SQL, demonstrating proficiency in data manipulation and analysis.


• Statistical Expertise: Experience designing and implementing robust and reproducible statistical studies in the context of epidemiology and observational research with healthcare data.


• Statistical Methods Knowledge: Familiarity with common statistical testing methods including generalized linear models, classification and regression, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time series analysis, and survival analysis.


• Data Handling Experience: Proven experience processing large-scale data from diverse data sources, demonstrating ability to work with complex, multi-dimensional datasets.


• Healthcare Data Experience: Experience handling protected patient health information (PHI) with strict adherence to data privacy and security protocols.


• Visualization Tools: Knowledge of at least one of the following: Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, or other business intelligence and insight tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Healthcare Data Expertise: Proficiency in EMR/Health IT systems, disease registries, and insurance claims databases, with deep understanding of healthcare data ecosystems.


• Clinical Data Standards: Expertise in clinical data standards, clinical terminologies, and controlled vocabularies used in healthcare data and ontologies (ICD-9/10, ReadCode, SNOMED CT, etc.).


• Regulatory Knowledge: Experience in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and/or regulatory compliance guidelines for real-world evidence studies or clinical trials (e.g., ISO standards, MDD/MDR, CFR Title 21).


• Innovative Data Sources: Experience working with alternative data sources and alternative methods for clinical data collection, especially those enabled by technology platforms and/or digital health solutions.


• Advanced Statistical Skills: Experience with trial design, Bayesian modeling, sequential analysis, and computational statistics.


• Machine Learning Proficiency: Understanding of statistics and machine learning techniques, with the ability to continuously self-learn both technical and non-technical skills in this rapidly evolving field.
