The Role: Manager, Data Analytics

We are currently seeking an experienced Manager, Data Analytics to serve as the primary data analysis partner for cross-functional teams across our Music Group business. This role is critical in driving data-informed strategies and providing actionable insights that inform planning and decision-making throughout the organization.

As the Manager, Data Analytics at arenaflex, you will develop a deep understanding of consumer behaviors within music marketing, discovery, and streaming channels. You will translate complex business questions into analytical frameworks, leveraging your expertise in statistics and data modeling to uncover meaningful patterns and trends. Your work will directly influence how we approach artist promotion, release strategies, audience engagement, and business development initiatives.

This is a part-time position offering $18 per hour, with flexible remote work arrangements available. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess strong leadership capabilities, and demonstrate a genuine passion for the music industry.

Key Responsibilities

As a key member of our analytics team, you will be responsible for:


  • Driving analytical approaches to complex business problems through data creation, analysis, and statistical modeling. You will develop new features incorporating data from internal and external sources, applying regression, classification, and clustering models to derive actionable insights.
  • Contributing to strategic initiatives and new business opportunities by developing analytical models and frameworks to understand potential, performance drivers, and the impact of environmental factors on our music business.
  • Supporting data-informed business processes by applying data mining, quantitative analysis, and data presentation to surface and elevate key themes, addressing business questions across varied business areas.
  • Extracting and preparing data for analysis by securing, organizing, scrubbing, and controlling complex, large-scale data from various sources using tools such as PySpark and advanced SQL to effectively interact with data.
  • Applying machine learning techniques including linear and logistic regression, decision trees, or k-means clustering to derive, validate, and measure conclusions from data.
  • Serving as the analytical partner for cross-functional stakeholders to identify opportunities and understand performance, diving into data to drive meaningful and impactful insights.
  • Contributing to organizational needs through ongoing reporting and analysis to inform business, product, marketing, and sales decisions.
  • Leading content performance and audience analysis for product releases, developing and tracking key metrics to measure success.
  • Performing statistical analysis including KPI deep dives, behavioral segmentation, and customer journey analysis. Developing analytical pipelines for automated, scalable, repeatable, and coordinated analysis using modern big data technologies.
  • Collaborating with Engineering and Product teams to execute on data projects, contributing to solution discovery, design, build, and QA processes.
  • Working collaboratively on data models, database structures, table design, and ETL/ELT data pipelines and validation criteria.
  • Leading and mentoring a team member, setting boundaries to maximize influence within the organization.

Required Qualifications

Education



  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field including Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or other related quantitative discipline

Experience



  • 3+ years of data analysis experience

  • 3+ years of management experience

Technical Skills



  • Experience developing statistical models and analyses in an industry setting for business use cases

  • Applied knowledge of supervised and unsupervised learning techniques

  • Strong proficiency handling large, transaction-level datasets and interpreting data trends from multiple disparate data sources

  • Solid hands-on experience developing advanced analytical solutions using scripting tools (Python/R)

  • Mastery in advanced SQL, large-scale data, and distributed computing languages (PySpark)

  • Experience with data mining in distributed systems (Spark/Databricks)

  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (Tableau/Looker)

  • Experience developing analytical software that scales analyses

Industry Knowledge



  • Experience working with media performance data

  • Experience working with data in the entertainment industry

  • Demonstrated genuine interest in music and the music industry

  • Strong experience with music streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple, Amazon Music, YouTube)

  • Familiarity with social media platforms (TikTok, Facebook/Instagram) and emerging technologies (digital assistants/voice)

  • Strong experience documenting data requirements, rules, and assumptions

  • Experience communicating analytical concepts to diverse audiences

  • Passion for building clear, concise, and meaningful metrics

  • Proven track record of using data to deliver business value and presenting data-driven insights to business audiences

  • Strong time management skills with ability to work in a fast-paced environment across multiple priorities

  • History of working independently, demonstrating creativity, and delivering results

  • Experience building, managing, and motivating teams in strategic support functions

  • Graduate degree in a quantitative field including Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or other related quantitative field
