The Role: Data Center Operations Technician

Are you passionate about hardware, servers, and networking? Do you thrive in dynamic environments where every day brings new challenges? If so, arenaflex is looking for an experienced Data Center Operations Technician to join our Technical Infrastructure team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining the hardware and server software that powers arenaflex's world-class services.

You will work with state-of-the-art server equipment and networking components, taking on the configuration of complex elements including networks, routers, hubs, bridges, switches, and various networking protocols. This position offers the opportunity to participate in or lead small project teams on large-scale installations while developing comprehensive project contingency plans. While the role can sometimes be physically demanding – involving manual movement and installation of racks – you'll be excited to work with infrastructure representing the latest in computer technology.

Key Responsibilities

As a Data Center Operations Technician at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our infrastructure. Your key responsibilities include:

Contributing to deployment, maintenance, and support initiatives for cutting-edge and new data center infrastructure

Participating in complex troubleshooting sessions and resolving critical technical issues that impact service availability

Testing and troubleshooting new server and network hardware components and designs before full deployment

Installing and maintaining switches, routers, and other large-scale networking equipment

Configuring and troubleshooting Linux operating system-related issues and ensuring optimal performance

Installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining servers and their components

Managing server software, including arenaflex's Linux cluster environments

Configuring complex networking components including networks, routers, hubs, bridges, and switches

Leading or participating in small project teams for large installations

Developing and implementing project contingency plans to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity

Monitoring system performance and proactively identifying areas for improvement

Documenting configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing

Minimum Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must meet the following requirements:

Three years of experience in the upkeep and tracking of server systems, running systems, or networking protocols
Direct experience in the upkeep and tracking of server systems, demonstrating familiarity with server architecture and maintenance
Experience operating within a data center or network operations center environment, understanding the unique challenges and requirements of these settings

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications will help you stand out and excel in this role:

Experience working with troubleshooting hardware or network-related issues using Linux-based tools, demonstrating strong command-line proficiency

Experience operating autonomously and prioritizing multiple competing priorities in fast-paced environments

Ability to collaborate and partner with people and teams to overcome challenges, contributing to a positive team dynamic

Ability to manage ambiguity and adapt to changing priorities, thriving in evolving technical landscapes

Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Experience with documentation and knowledge management systems

Understanding of industry best practices for data center operations and infrastructure management
