Position Overview
As a Customer Service Representative at arenaflex, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that every customer who walks through our doors or calls our store receives exceptional service. This position requires a unique blend of interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and physical capabilities. You will be responsible for creating positive first impressions, building customer relationships, processing transactions accurately, maintaining store cleanliness and organization, and supporting merchandising efforts. Key Responsibilities
Customer Service Excellence
- Provide a warm, friendly greeting to all customers upon entering the store or when answering the phone, setting the tone for a positive shopping experience
- Learn and use customers' names whenever possible to create personalized interactions and build lasting relationships
- Go above and beyond to make customers feel important, valued, and appreciated throughout their entire visit
- Move quickly and efficiently to provide fast yet friendly service without compromising quality or accuracy
- Assist customers with product selection by pointing out promotional items and using suggestive selling techniques when appropriate

Cleaning and Housekeeping Responsibilities
Interior Cleaning:
- Maintain spotless restrooms, including floors, toilets, sinks, mirrors, walls, and ceilings, ensuring they are clean and odor-free at all times
- Stock restrooms with soap, paper towels, and toilet paper as needed to ensure continuous availability for customers
- Empty, clean, and properly maintain all trash cans, ensuring bags are neatly tucked out of sight
- Clean doors, windows, walls, shelves, and window sills to maintain a pristine store appearance
- Sweep and mop floors thoroughly, removing all trash, spills, and stains to prevent safety hazards
- Clean cooler doors and shelves, removing stains and spills to maintain food safety and visual appeal
- Sweep rugs and remove all trash to keep entrance areas clean and welcoming
- Maintain a clean and organized transaction counter, removing items not for sale
- Keep all shelves clean and dust-free to ensure product quality and store presentation
- Maintain a clean and organized food service area, including equipment and preparation surfaces
- Keep back office and cooler areas neat, organized, and properly arranged
- Clean coffee and fountain areas, ensuring they are free of spills, trash, and debris
- Ensure all merchandise is clean and dust-free for customer selection
Exterior Cleaning:
- Sweep parking lot regularly, removing all trash, oil stains, gas spots, cigarette butts, and weeds
- Clean windows and doors, removing dirt and grime while ensuring no faded or unauthorized signs are displayed
- Maintain clean entrance sidewalks, free of stains, trash, and debris
- Keep exterior trash cans clean and not overflowing, with bags neatly arranged
- Clean fuel island dispensers and nozzles to maintain a professional appearance
- Ensure squeegees and towels are available on all islands and that windshield buckets are clean and full
Merchandising Duties
- Stock, front, and face all merchandise to ensure attractive product presentation and inventory availability
- Bag ice efficiently and maintain proper ice storage areas
- Ensure all merchandise is properly priced and labeled for customer clarity
- Front cooler products and ensure labels are properly faced for easy product identification
- Stock fountain drinks, cooler items, and freezer products, including condiments
- Brew coffee regularly to ensure fresh, quality beverages are available for customers
- Check and remove out-of-date merchandise promptly to maintain product quality and safety
- Move and build displays to create attractive product presentations and support sales initiatives
- Maintain proper cigarette displays at the sales counter, ensuring all products are priced correctly
- Stock lottery supplies and cigarettes as needed to maintain inventory levels
- Change bag-in-box syrup on fountain machines as required
Accounting and Legal Responsibilities
- Follow proper cash and credit card procedures, including accurate transaction processing and reconciliation
- Handle refund requests in accordance with company policies and legal requirements
- Execute shift procedures correctly, including cash drops and safe operations
- Perform basic math computations accurately to count back change to customers
- Adhere strictly to policies regarding age-restricted product sales, including proper ID verification
- Maintain compliance with all applicable laws and regulations governing retail operations
Inventory Control and Loss Prevention
- Observe customers and activities throughout the store to identify potential shoplifting attempts
- React appropriately to suspected shoplifters following company protocols and legal guidelines
- Monitor for and report gas theft incidents promptly
- Maintain awareness of inventory levels and report discrepancies to management
Miscellaneous Responsibilities
- Check in vendors and ensure proper documentation of deliveries
- Maintain a safe environment by immediately addressing gas spills, emergency stop situations, slip and fall hazards, and proper lifting procedures
- Attend required store meetings and complete mandatory website training modules
- Log and report maintenance issues to management immediately for quick resolution
- Perform other duties as assigned by management to support store operations
Position Requirements
Physical Requirements
- Physical Fitness: Must be in good physical condition and able to stand, bend, and move for up to eight hours
- Mobility: Must be able to bend, squat, twist, stoop, kneel, and reach forward comfortably
- Temperature Tolerance: Must be able to work in cooler environments at temperatures of 32 degrees Fahrenheit
- Lifting Capability: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds safely and properly
- Push/Pull Strength: Must be able to push and pull up to 45 pounds
- Climbing: Must be able to climb a two to five foot ladder and maintain balance to clean windows, stock and arrange coolers and shelves, and hang or change signs
- Emergency Response: Must be able to react to a fire by lifting a fire extinguisher weighing 10 pounds and moving it to the fire area
Educational and Communication Requirements
- Basic Math: Must be able to perform basic math computations for counting change and transaction processing
- Language Skills: Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently
- Communication: Must be able to communicate effectively with customers and team members in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous customer service experience in a retail, convenience store, or hospitality environment
- Experience handling cash and operating point-of-sale systems
- Knowledge of convenience store operations, including fuel dispensers if applicable
- Familiarity with merchandising and inventory management practices

- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
