Position Overview: Member Service Representative – Remote

We are currently seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Member Service Representative to join our growing team. In this role, you will provide telephone assistance to Aetna Medicaid members and health care providers, addressing a wide range of inquiries with professionalism and empathy. This is a work-from-home position that offers the flexibility to work remotely while still being part of a supportive, collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

As a Member Service Representative at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in delivering exceptional customer experiences to our members and providers. Your responsibilities will include:


  • Answering incoming calls from members and providers, responding to inquiries regarding benefits, eligibility, services, and coverage details.

  • Assisting with eligibility verification and providing accurate information about member benefits and plan coverage.

  • Supporting provider changes and guiding callers through the process of selecting or changing their health care providers.

  • Processing requests for ID cards and ensuring members receive their identification materials promptly.

  • Addressing prior authorization requirements and explaining the steps involved in obtaining approvals for specific services.

  • Providing information about extra benefits and programs available to members, including wellness programs, prescription coverage, and special support services.

  • Documenting all interactions accurately in our computer systems to ensure continuity of care and proper record-keeping.

  • Escalating complex issues to supervisors or specialized teams when necessary, ensuring timely resolution for callers.

  • Meeting performance standards related to call quality, customer satisfaction, and productivity goals.

  • Participating in ongoing training to stay current on policy changes, system updates, and best practices.

Work Environment and Requirements

This is a remote position, allowing you to work from the comfort of your home. However, to ensure the best possible experience for our members, we require the following:


  • Location Requirement: You must live within 50 miles of Charleston, WV, as occasional office visits may be required for training, team meetings, or technical support.

  • Internet Connectivity: You must have high-speed internet connectivity with secure service via an ethernet cable. Wi-Fi connections are not permitted due to security and reliability requirements.

  • Equipment Provision: arenaflex will provide all necessary equipment, including a computer, headset, and access to our secure systems.

  • Backup Plan: In the event of prolonged technical problems that prevent working from home, you must be able to commute to our office in Charleston, WV.

  • Training Schedule: The first six weeks will involve training from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM EST, Monday through Friday.

  • Production Schedule: After training, your regular schedule will be 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM EST, Monday through Friday.

Required Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must meet the following requirements:


  • Ability to communicate effectively with members and providers orally and in written form.

  • Strong ability to meet performance standards, attendance requirements, and call quality goals.

  • Self-sufficiency and the ability to work independently from a home office.

  • Comfortable with technology and proficient in using computer systems and software.

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).

  • Must be able to work from home in a quiet, professional environment.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications will help you excel in this role:


  • Previous experience working remotely in a call center setting.

  • Familiarity with Medicaid and Medicare programs and terminology.

  • Experience in health care customer service or related fields.

  • Bachelor's degree or additional education in health care, communications, or a related field.
