They are seeking a Cooling Systems Engineer I to design, validate, and integrate cooling systems for vehicles, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. The role involves collaboration with various teams and managing multiple projects to enhance product quality and efficiency.


Responsibilities

  • Concept, develop, and release best-in-class solutions for Western Star and Freightliner vehicles, with awareness to overall vehicle packaging
  • Apply theoretical principles and engineering techniques to design systems that are reliable, serviceable, efficient, and competitive and use the latest technology available
  • Support truck manufacturing plants, sales order processing, quality groups, and service engineering
  • Promptly respond to shop calls and plant build issues. Understand the ramifications of these issues and how their potential solutions roll out across multiple projects and products
  • Select and implement suitable counter measures
  • Interface and support other teams including product design, validation engineering, and compliance, manufacturing, sales and marketing
  • Interact with multi-tier supplier base to ensure conformance of designs to specifications, internal and external customer expectations, engineering practices and government regulations
  • Provide a broad emphasis on continuous improvement and challenge others to top performance
  • Act as a consensus builder to various stakeholders to maintain directional support throughout the project life cycle
  • Manage multiple assignments concurrently, and prioritize them in a manner consistent with business goals
  • Successfully implement projects on time and within budget
  • Proactively inform management of project issues, delays and risks
  • Improve competitive market position by keeping abreast of state of the art developments in the trucking industry and applying the new knowledge to designs
  • Generate and implement ideas to continuously improve work environment, systems, tools, processes as well as product cost and quality

Skills

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or relevant
  • Demonstrated CAD expertise, including surface development (NX)
  • Proven follow-through and ability to work independently
  • Ability to work with other design areas to reconcile conflicting design solutions into robust and cost effective solutions
  • Experience preparing and giving presentations
  • Understanding of engineering & upstream/downstream processes
  • Experience leading implementation of cross-functional improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrated strategic foresight, ability to anticipate questions/next steps, and ability to motivate self and others
  • Knowledgeable in the areas of Engine cooling systems, Thermodynamics and or Fluid mechanics- strongly preferred
  • Experience with DTNA systems (SMARAGD, IMACS+, etc.)
  • Knowledge of vehicle assembly plant processes
  • Demonstrated strategic foresight, ability to anticipate questions/next steps, and ability to motivate self and others
