Harvard Management Company (HMC) manages Harvard University's endowment and related financial assets. The Associate in Accounting will be responsible for daily accounting and reporting of investment-related accounts, assisting with month-end and year-end closes, and providing accurate financial reporting to support the University.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily accounting and reporting of certain investment related accounts
  • Provide timely direction and guidance to HMC’s fund administrator on their execution of transactions and valuations to ensure accounting and performance records are maintained accurately
  • Assist in the monitoring and processing of accounts payable for the management company
  • Review travel & expense reporting for all internal employees
  • Ownership of vendor management and invoice resolution for the management company
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures for the investment and non-investment accounts, including general ledger account reconciliations
  • Assist with preparation for annual fiscal year closes, various audits, and the management company budget process as needed

Skills

  • B.S. in Accounting
  • Previous experience working in a corporate office environment (preferably in an accounting-related function)
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with consistently high-quality work
  • Flexible and able to adjust to changing priorities and deliverables
  • Effective communication skills
  • Team-oriented and relationship-driven, with a practical, solutions-focused approach
  • Must be a creative problem solver who leverages AI/data optimization to improve processes
  • Highest level of integrity and character, and a commitment to excellence
  • Proficiency with MS Excel is preferred
