Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Remote Data Engineer to join our Accounting Business Intelligence team. Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with business stakeholders and other engineering teams to identify and scope the appropriate data structure and technology needed to facilitate analysis of common customer behavioral questions and drive actionable insights.
- Partner with Engineering Teams: Partner with partner engineering teams to enhance data infrastructure, improve data availability, and broaden access to client insights through BI tools across the organization.
- Design and Implement ETL Solutions: Design, build, and implement robust ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes using AWS and similar cloud technologies to ensure efficient data pipeline operations.
- Anomaly Detection Systems: Implement anomaly detection systems to take a proactive approach to potential data quality issues, using industry-standard frameworks and best practices.
- Enable Large-Scale Analytics: Enable large-scale analytics through the use of EMR (Elastic MapReduce) and other big data technologies to process and analyze massive datasets efficiently.
- Establish Quality Standards: Establish and implement technology quality practices that should be followed throughout the organization, ensuring consistency and reliability in data operations.
- Proof of Concept Development: Work on proof-of-concept projects for the adoption of new technologies and tools, evaluating their potential value and integration with existing systems.
- Data Modeling and Architecture: Develop and maintain data models, data warehousing solutions, and comprehensive ETL pipelines that support business intelligence initiatives.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs effectively.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain technical documentation, and share knowledge with team members to promote best practices and continuous improvement.
Essential Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 3+ years of data engineering experience in a professional setting.
- Data Modeling and Warehousing: Proven experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines from the ground up.
- SQL Expertise: Strong working knowledge of SQL for data manipulation, querying, and database management.
- Query Languages: Experience with one or more query languages such as SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, MDX, HiveQL, SparkSQL, or similar technologies.
- Scripting Languages: Proficiency in one or more scripting languages such as Python, KornShell, or equivalent.
- Cloud Platform Knowledge: Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly AWS (Amazon Web Services), and understanding of cloud-based data solutions.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and translate them into actionable insights.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
