Position Overview
As the Senior Manager of Engineering & Operations Excellence at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and optimizing global systems, processes, and decision-science tools. Your leadership will directly impact our ability to reduce operating costs, increase revenues, improve service delivery, and deliver exceptional solutions to both internal and external clients.
You will be responsible for establishing preventive measures to ensure compliance, maintain system functionality, and implement robust business continuity plans. Additionally, you will oversee the measurement and reporting of client commitments while leveraging continuous improvement methodologies to identify and address areas where client retention may be at risk.
This role requires both domestic and international travel to collaborate with global teams, implement new systems, and drive operational excellence across all regions.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Build and develop a high-performing team by fostering a culture of growth, voluntary engagement, and continuous learning. Ensure all team members complete required and developmental training within established timeframes.
- Full supervisory responsibilities including recruiting, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work. Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, address performance issues, and implement corrective action as needed.
- Promote a continuous improvement mindset across the team, encouraging innovation, proactive problem-solving, and excellence in all endeavors.
Operational Excellence & Process Improvement
- Design, develop, and execute global systems, frameworks, processes, and decision-science tools to reduce operating costs, increase revenues and profitability, and improve service and solutions for internal and external clients.
- Lead and execute continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operations, drive profitability, ensure compliance, and improve the overall customer experience.
- Develop and maintain work policies, best practices, and job standards according to engineering principles to ensure employee and public safety, promote compliance, maximize productivity, and achieve both service level and efficiency goals.
- Drive the advancement of the Quality Driven Management (QDM) approach globally, increasing overall knowledge, expertise, certification, and utilization of QDM processes that result in measurable business improvement.
Technology Implementation & Systems Management
- Coordinate global cargo forwarding capabilities (including CargoWise) while standardizing system architecture and usage in alignment with global processes, internal policies and procedures, and international regulatory requirements.
- Prioritize requests and configure capabilities to ensure technology developments support business and client needs effectively.
- Support proper testing and validation of technology changes to ensure systems function as intended and meet business requirements.
Client Success & Business Growth
- Ensure client commitments are quantitatively measured and reported using established KPIs and performance metrics.
- Leverage continuous improvement tools to target areas where client retention is at risk, implementing strategies to enhance customer loyalty and satisfaction.
- Lead initiatives that drive client acquisition and retention within the market, contributing to revenue growth and market expansion.
- Work with global partners to drive cross-regional advancement and process standardization across the organization.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Establish preventive measures to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, standards, and internal policies.
- Verify that systems function as designed and that business continuity plans are in place and effective.
- Perform, review, analyze, plan, implement, and follow up on all other duties and initiatives as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field (Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or equivalent). Master's degree preferred.
- Proven experience in driving performance, management, and coordination of CargoWise or similar enterprise systems into the international freight forwarding landscape.
- Experience in design, development, and implementation of digital capabilities and solutions is required.
- Extensive experience in managing and leading high-performing teams, optimizing processes, and transforming business operations.
- Demonstrated change management and project management experience driving operational excellence and continuous improvement for cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong industry knowledge with proven successful management experience, excellent human relations, and communication skills.
Preferred Certifications & Skills
- Six Sigma, Lean, or other ASQ continuous improvement certification (such as arenaflex QDM Master certification) strongly preferred.
- Agile, PMP, or similar project management certification strongly preferred.
- Expertise in Quality Driven Management (QDM) methodologies and their application in logistics or supply chain operations.
- Advanced knowledge of international freight forwarding systems, customs regulations, and global logistics operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and drive data-informed decisions.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
