Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Game Tools & Pipeline Engineer who is genuinely passionate about empowering others to achieve their best work. In this pivotal role, you will serve as a technical champion for our development teams, providing the infrastructure, tools, and support that multiply our collective efforts and enhance overall team performance.
As a Senior Tools Engineer at arenaflex, you'll be instrumental in identifying workflow inefficiencies, pain points, and bottlenecks across our development process. You'll collaborate closely with our Art, Design, and Engineering teams to understand their unique challenges and develop elegant, effective solutions that streamline production and improve productivity. What You'll Do
As a key member of our tools and infrastructure team, you will play a multifaceted role that combines technical expertise with collaborative problem-solving. Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Proactively identifying inefficiencies and elaborate areas in our development technique across all disciplines, from initial concept to final release
- Maintaining, extending, and supporting our existing development tools and pipeline infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability
- Building and guiding custom asset pipelines that automate workflows, reduce manual errors, and accelerate content production
- Developing arenaflex's proprietary libraries, tools, and technologies across multiple game engines and frameworks
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including Art, Design, and Engineering to understand workflow challenges and develop tailored solutions
- Generating candidate solutions for identified problems, weighing tradeoffs given project context and development timelines
- Implementing selected solutions with careful attention to code quality, documentation, and long-term maintainability
- Supporting adoption of new tools and workflows by providing training, documentation, and ongoing support to team members
- Assisting in developing and maintaining arenaflex's current set of engine-specific and custom tools that we use every day
- Evaluating effectiveness of implemented solutions and iterating based on user feedback and evolving project needs

Essential Qualifications

- Experience with the full software development lifecycle: from identifying issues and analyzing potential solutions to implementing tools and evaluating their effectiveness
- Experience working with custom standalone tools and understanding their integration into larger development ecosystems
- Experience developing tools that are utilized by multiple game development disciplines, demonstrating versatility and user-centric design thinking
- Proficiency in programming languages including C#, C++, and Python
- Ability to work effectively in a self-directed environment with minimal supervision, taking ownership of projects and delivering results
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members across different disciplines
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop creative, practical solutions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with custom game engines and understanding of engine architecture
- Professional experience with Unreal Engine or Unity Engine development
- Familiarity with JavaScript and .NET technologies
- Background in game development or interactive entertainment
- Experience with version control systems and collaborative development workflows
- Understanding of asset management and digital content creation pipelines
