What You'll Do
As a Senior Data Examination Designer at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in supporting our data and insights initiatives. Your expertise will help us build and maintain robust data infrastructure that enables powerful reporting and analytics capabilities. Here's what you can expect:
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Data Initiatives: Oversee the delivery of arenaflex Health data and insights-driven projects and initiatives. You will manage both long-term strategic data efforts and ad-hoc requests to meet reporting and analysis requirements.
- Data Infrastructure Management: Support comprehensive data ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) and data warehousing activities to ensure reliable data flow across the organization. This includes maintaining and optimizing existing data pipelines while developing new solutions as needed.
- Database Development: Plan, develop, and deliver layered databases and data pipelines that support reporting and analysis projects. You'll create efficient, scalable data architectures that meet business intelligence needs.
- Data Modeling Standards: Establish data planning and preprocessing standards for populating logical and physical data models attached to report-specific working tables. This applies to both enterprise business intelligence and predefined reporting solutions.
- ETL Best Practices: Apply industry-leading data extraction, transformation, and loading best practices to integrate large datasets from various internal production system sources and third-party files. You'll work with diverse data formats and ensure data quality and consistency.
- Data Profiling & Analysis: Perform comprehensive data profiling and analysis across internal production systems, manually maintained data, and standard healthcare datasets including member eligibility information, clinical claims, pharmacy claims, and HEDIS ECDS records.
- Automation Development: Create internal tools to automate all development-related activities including data processing, quality assurance, data validation, and more. Your automation solutions will improve team efficiency and reduce manual errors.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with data analysts, BI engineers, system administrators, and data consumers to deliver performance insights across arenaflex Health. You'll serve as a technical bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
Essential Qualifications
- Technical Expertise: Proven hands-on experience writing and tuning SQL-based ETL/ELT scripts. You should be comfortable with complex queries, stored procedures, and performance optimization.
- Data Environment Design: Experience designing and delivering reasonably isolated data environments using ETL/ELT services such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or Snowflake. Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms is essential.
- BI Platform Experience: Experience providing thought leadership and presenting tool-agnostic semantic data layer enhancements related to BI technology platforms like PowerBI, Tableau, or Looker.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical teams, internal partners, clients, and vendor partners. You must be able to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Business Acumen: At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace. Understanding of budget considerations, ROI analysis, and business case development is valuable.
- Leadership Experience: Minimum 2 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership, and/or cross-functional team management experience. You should be comfortable leading projects and mentoring team members.
- Travel Availability: Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time for business purposes, both within state and out of state. This may include occasional on-site meetings, training sessions, or collaborative workshops.
Preferred Qualifications
- Healthcare Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with pharmacy, healthcare, and clinical research concepts. Understanding of healthcare data structures, medical terminology, and regulatory requirements is highly desirable.
- Healthcare Data Experience: Experience working with healthcare datasets including member eligibility data, clinical claims, pharmacy claims, and quality measure data such as HEDIS (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) ECDS (Electronic Clinical Data System) records.
- Additional Certifications: Relevant certifications in data engineering, cloud platforms, or healthcare informatics would be advantageous.
