Position Overview: Certified Pharmacy Customer Service Associate

As a Certified Pharmacy Customer Service Associate at arenaflex, you will play a vital role in delivering an outstanding customer experience while supporting our pharmacy operations. This position requires a unique blend of interpersonal skills, pharmaceutical knowledge, and operational excellence. You will be responsible for register operations, customer service excellence, and assisting the pharmacy team with various tasks that ensure smooth and efficient pharmacy workflow.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Experience Excellence

  • Greet and assist customers with warmth and professionalism, offering help proactively and ensuring every interaction leaves a positive impression
  • Engage patients and customers by providing information about products and services, answering questions, and resolving concerns to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience
  • Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal habits including friendly greetings, eye contact, courtesy, and patience – embodying arenaflex service traits in every interaction
  • Resolve customer issues promptly and effectively, ensuring satisfaction and loyalty through attentive, empathetic service
  • Recommend items for sale to customers, suggesting trade-up options and companion products to enhance their shopping experience

Pharmacy Operations Support

  • Register operations: Process customer purchases on assigned cash registers, collect payments, and distribute change accurately; handle voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges as needed
  • Prescription processing: Assist pharmacists by using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, enter data correctly, and help fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs
  • Verification assistance: Verify that medicines are correct and check for possible interactions, reporting any concerns immediately to the pharmacist on duty
  • Quality compliance: Adhere strictly to company policies and procedures regarding pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program; report prescription errors immediately
  • Regulatory adherence: Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including those related to regulated products such as alcoholic beverages and tobacco products
  • Good Faith Dispensing: Strictly adhere to all policies regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities
  • Phone handling: Manage telephone calls that do not require the personal attention of the pharmacist, including physician callbacks, with professionalism and efficiency
  • Claims processing: Process manual claims for third-party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, performing clerical duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager

Inventory and Merchandising

  • Maintain store appearance by keeping counters and shelves clean, well-merchandised, and organized
  • Perform inventory management activities including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments
  • Price merchandise as required or as directed by store management
  • Asset protection: Demonstrate knowledge of Company asset protection techniques and file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods involving prescription drugs
  • Display management: Construct and maintain promotional, seasonal, and sale merchandise displays; complete resets and revisions as directed
  • Product placement: Assist with separation of food items and product placement according to company policies and procedures

Additional Responsibilities

  • Photo area support: Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo service, poster printing, and suggestive selling of promotional photo products
  • Web pick-up duties: Assume responsibility for web pick-up, including monitoring orders, filling orders, and delivering orders to customers as they arrive at the store
  • Store maintenance: Assist with exterior and interior maintenance to ensure a clean, neat, orderly, and professional store appearance
  • Collaboration: Comply with all company policies and procedures while maintaining respectful relationships with coworkers
  • Special assignments: Complete special assignments and other tasks as directed by management

Essential Qualifications

  • Language proficiency: Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours
  • Certification requirement: Must obtain PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) certification through the designated training program and/or state-required certification/registration within the timeframe specified
  • Mathematical skills: Good math skills to accurately fill prescriptions, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications
  • Technical proficiency: Basic computer skills and working knowledge of store systems and equipment
  • Attention to detail: Ability to maintain accuracy in data entry and prescription processing
  • Communication skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Customer service orientation: Demonstrated commitment to delivering friendly, efficient, and helpful service

Preferred Qualifications

  • Retail experience: Six months or more of experience in a retail environment
  • Industry knowledge: Prior work experience in a pharmacy or healthcare retail setting
  • Inventory management: Knowledge of store inventory control procedures
  • Advanced certification: PTCB certification is strongly preferred
  • Product knowledge: Familiarity with over-the-counter medications and health-related products
