UC San Diego’s Temporary Employment Services department is offering a new opportunity for a Web Applications Developer. The role focuses on the development and maintenance of web-based platforms, ensuring they are user-friendly and aligned with organizational needs while collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements and implement updates.


Responsibilities

  • Configure and maintain CMS platforms, with a focus on Drupal
  • Manage users, roles, and permissions
  • Install and update modules and themes
  • Modify Drupal themes using Twig templates and CSS
  • Develop and update responsive website layouts
  • Apply responsive design principles to new and existing sites
  • Ensure websites meet web accessibility standards
  • Optimize media assets (e.g., images) for web performance
  • Support basic SEO practices and cross-browser compatibility
  • Meet with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate needs into technical solutions
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical users
  • Provide guidance and training on CMS platforms such as Drupal and Google Sites
  • Troubleshoot issues related to web platforms and event management tools (e.g., Eventbrite)
  • Upload and manage video content on platforms such as YouTube and Vimeo
  • Support integration of multimedia content into websites

Skills

  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Strong understanding of responsive design
  • Experience working with Bootstrap or similar front-end frameworks
  • Understanding of web accessibility standards
  • Familiarity with media optimization techniques
  • Basic knowledge of web security best practices and cross-browser compatibility
  • Experience with Google Analytics and Google Search Console
  • Strong understanding of search engine optimization (SEO)
  • Familiarity with Apache HTTP Server
  • Strong communication skills and ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences
  • Experience with content management systems (Drupal preferred), including customization of themes, templates, and modules
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Figma or Adobe Creative Suite (preferred)
