Staff Accountant

Kobalt Music is a company that champions creators and is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join their Finance team in New York. The role involves supporting the accuracy and transparency of financial reporting and operational processes, including month-end close activities and reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Support the month-end close process for the Corporate business unit, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of key deliverables
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and assist in resolving discrepancies
• Partner with teams such as FP&A and P&C to support accurate reporting of operating expenses
• Support statutory reporting and audit requirements for overseas subsidiaries, working with external partners where required
• Assist with group audit requirements, ensuring supporting documentation and workpapers are complete and organised
• Support the administration of travel and expense systems (Concur and CWT) and the US credit card program
• Contribute to process improvements by identifying inefficiencies and supporting solutions
• Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, ensuring clarity and accuracy in financial information

Skills

• 1–3 years' experience in accounting or a similar finance role
• Understanding of accrual-based accounting principles
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or similar)
• A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and develop
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
• Experience in a medium-sized, fast-paced accounting environment
• Familiarity with NetSuite
• Progress toward a professional qualification (CPA or equivalent)
