Hearst Magazines is one of the largest publishers in the world, and they are seeking a Staff Accountant to support their financial operations. The role involves preparing journal entries, managing intercompany transactions, and producing financial reports while collaborating with internal stakeholders and supporting audit processes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly journal entries and perform general ledger account reconciliations
- Manage intercompany transactions, including invoicing and communication across entities
- Analyze and interpret accounting reports from service organizations and partners
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to address accounting-related questions and issues
- Support internal and external audit processes, including annual audit preparation
- Maintain accuracy and confidentiality of financial information and records
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, particularly through automation
- Produce daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports (e.g., cash, accounts receivable)
Skills
- 0+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Foundational knowledge of accounting principles, including debits/credits, income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow
- Proficiency in Excel; experience with Smart View is a plus
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial and legal documents
- Effective communication skills and the ability to build relationships across teams and levels
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field preferred
