Position Overview
We're looking for an experienced leader to design, direct, plan, examine, test, and execute global frameworks, processes, and decision science tools that reduce operating costs, increase revenues and profitability, and improve service and solutions for our internal and external clients.
As our Senior Manager of Engineering and Operations Excellence, you'll provide leadership and direction advancing our human service philosophy while enabling the growth and development of team members. You'll support the continued expansion of our global Quality Driven Management (QDM) initiatives to ensure continuous improvement across all operational facets.
Work Location: This position is designed to support remote work arrangements, offering flexibility while maintaining collaborative connections with our global teams. Periodic domestic and international travel may be required to support key initiatives and stakeholder engagements.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Development
- Select, train, and develop staff with the design of creating a culture that develops employees, evokes discretionary effort, and ensures team members complete all required and developmental training within established timeframes.
- Promote a continuous improvement and growth mindset throughout the team, fostering innovation and excellence in everything we do.
- Complete leadership responsibilities according to company policies and standards, including meeting, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; assessing performance; rewarding; coaching; and addressing performance issues promptly and professionally.
Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement
- Ideate and lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operations, increase profitability, drive compliance, and improve the customer experience across all touchpoints.
- Drive the development and maintenance of work policies, best practices, and job standards according to engineering principles to ensure the safety of our employees and the public, promote compliance, maximize productivity, and enable achievement of both service level and efficiency targets.
- Responsible for establishing preventive measures to ensure compliance and system functionality as designed, and that business continuity plans are in place and effective.
- Increase overall knowledge, support, and expertise in the Quality Driven Management (QDM) approach, and drive utilization of QDM processes that result in measurable business improvement.
Technology Integration and Systems Management
- Drive the coordination of global cargo forwarding capabilities (specifically CargoWise) while standardizing system architecture and usage in alignment with global processes, internal policies and procedures, and international regulatory requirements.
- Prioritize requests and develop capabilities to ensure innovations support business and client needs effectively.
- Support proper testing and validation of technology changes to ensure systems function as intended and deliver maximum value to stakeholders.
Customer Experience and Business Growth
- Ensure that customer commitments are quantitatively measured and reported, and that continuous improvement tools are utilized to target areas where customer retention is at risk.
- Ideate and lead initiatives that help drive customer acquisition and retention within the market, strengthening arenaflex's competitive position.
- Collaborate with global partners to drive cross-regional advancement and process standardization, ensuring consistency and excellence across all operations.
Strategic Planning and Execution
- Design, troubleshoot, direct, plan, examine, test, and execute worldwide frameworks, solutions, processes, and decision science tools to reduce operating costs, increase revenues and profitability, and improve service and solutions.
- Perform, review, analyze, plan, implement, and follow up on all other duties and initiatives as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Education
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field (Engineering, Operations Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or similar discipline); Master's degree strongly preferred.
Certifications (Highly Preferred)
- Six Sigma, Lean, or other ASQ continuous improvement certification (e.g., arenaflex QDM Master certification)
- Agile, PMP, or similar project management certification
Required Experience
- Demonstrated experience in driving performance, management, and coordination of CargoWise into the international cargo forwarding systems landscape
- Proven experience in design, development, and implementation of digital capabilities and solutions
- Significant related experience in managing and driving high-performing teams, optimizing processes, and transforming business operations
- Strong change management and project management experience driving operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives for cross-functional projects
