As we continue our digital transformation journey, we're seeking a talented Senior Data Engineer to join our Information Engineering team. Role Overview
As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be the key technical expert responsible for building and managing our data product factory and operations. You'll drive a strong foundation for what data engineering can proactively create to positively impact the business. You will be an engaged member of a team of data engineers who integrate data pipelines into various source systems, lay data on the arenaflex Data Lake, and enable investigation and access for analysis, visualization, AI, and product development efforts across the organization.
You will help drive the development of extremely large and complex data applications into public cloud environments, directly affecting the design, architecture, and implementation of arenaflex's lead data products. This role works closely with process owners, product owners, and business clients, operating in a hybrid environment with in-house, on-premise data sources as well as cloud and remote systems.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be responsible for:
- Code Development and Innovation: Actively contribute to code development in operations and services, ensuring high-quality, maintainable, and scalable solutions.
- Pipeline Management: Manage and scale data pipelines from internal and external data sources to support new product launches and drive data quality across data products.
- Automation and Monitoring: Build and own the automation and monitoring frameworks that capture metrics and operational KPIs for data pipeline quality and performance.
- Best Practices Implementation: Responsible for implementing best practices around systems integration, security, performance, and data management.
- Business Enablement: Enable the business by creating value through the increased adoption of data, data science, and business intelligence landscape.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with internal clients (data science and product teams) to drive solutioning and POC discussions.
- Team Development: Grow the building capabilities and innovation of the data platform by engaging with enterprise architects and key internal and external partners.
- Model Productionalization: Develop and optimize procedures to "productionalize" data science models.
- SLA Management: Define and manage SLA's for data products and processes running in production.
- Experimental Support: Support large-scale experimentation done by data researchers.
- Scalable Solutions: Model new approaches and build solutions at scale.
- Research and Innovation: Conduct research in cutting-edge methods and technologies.
- Documentation: Create documentation for learnings and knowledge transfer.
- Reusable Assets: Create and review reusable packages or libraries.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics, or other technical fields.
- 2+ years of experience in Data Lake Framework, Data Warehousing, and Data Analysis tools.
- 2+ years of experience with SQL development and execution tuning, and optimization experience in programming languages like Python, PySpark, Scala, or similar.
- 2+ years in cloud data engineering experience with Azure.
- Familiarity with Azure cloud services. Azure Certification is a plus.
- Experience with integration of multi-cloud services with on-premises technologies.
- Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building high-volume ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Experience with data profiling and data quality tools like Apache Griffin, Deequ, and Great Expectations.
- Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets.
- Experience with at least one MPP database technology like Redshift, Synapse, or Snowflake.
- Experience with running and scaling applications on cloud infrastructure and containerized services like Kubernetes.
- Experience with version control systems like GitHub and deployment and CI tools.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Azure AI tools.
- Working knowledge of agile development, including DevOps and DataOps concepts.
- Familiarity with business intelligence tools (like PowerBI).
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications will give you an edge:
- Experience with Statistical/ML techniques.
- Experience building solutions in the retail or supply chain space.
- Understanding of metadata management, data lineage, and data glossaries.
- Azure Certification.
