Position Overview

The Senior Data Scientist is responsible for applying highly complex, advanced data science, predictive analysis, and AI techniques to provide insights and meaningful recommendations. This role involves collaborating with finance, research, software developers, and business leaders to define product requirements and deliver analytical support. You will be instrumental in translating business realities behind large datasets into meaningful analytical solutions that drive strategic decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Model Development: Construct models and tools using specialized techniques in machine learning, statistical modeling, probability and decision theory, and other quantitative methods. Continuously optimize by adapting to new modeling techniques and frameworks.


• Business Insight Generation: Understand the business reality behind large datasets and develop meaningful analytical solutions that address real-world challenges.


• Statistical Analysis: Apply scientific rigor and statistical methods to analyze large volumes of data using advanced statistical techniques including predictive statistical models, customer profiling, segmentation analysis, survey design, and data mining.


• Algorithm Development: Build recommendation and optimization algorithmic plans, perform data retrieval, complexity analysis, and analytical computation.


• Programming & Tools: Program using technology stack including Python, PySpark, Matplotlib, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and other relevant frameworks.


• Machine Learning Implementation: Perform machine learning techniques, supervised and unsupervised algorithms to build predictive models and prescriptive solutions supporting various business use cases.


• Algorithm Construction: Assemble algorithms including decision trees, regression, XGBoost, K-means, anomaly detection, interpretable ML, Bayesian theory, and other advanced techniques.


• Cloud Computing: Utilize cloud computing on Azure/Databricks and query data in Snowflake environments.


• Development Tools: Use programming tools and techniques including GitHub, continuous integration and delivery, and agile methodologies.


• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with finance, researchers, software developers, and business leaders to define product requirements and provide analytical support.


• Communication & Presentation: Deliver findings verbally and in writing to business clients and leadership teams with varying levels of technical knowledge, educating them about our systems while sharing insights and recommendations.

Essential Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree with at least 4 years of experience in data science, machine learning, quantitative or computational capabilities OR High School/GED with at least 7 years of experience in data science, machine learning, quantitative or computational capabilities.


• Advanced Degree: M.S. in STEM, Computer Science, Information Systems, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or related field.


• Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience working with large-scale, complex datasets to create/optimize AI, predictive, forecasting, and/or optimization models.


• Technical Skills: Advanced experience with SQL, Python, PySPark, or other programming languages.


• Analytical Capabilities: Advanced skill in exploratory data analysis, feature engineering and selection, identifying patterns, analyzing distributions, visualizing results, and extracting insights to help businesses make informed data-driven decisions.


• Machine Learning Expertise: Experience using decision trees and building classifiers.


• ML Techniques: Experience with supervised learning techniques (linear and logistic regression, time series modeling, generalized linear models, decision trees, support vector machines, etc.) and unsupervised learning methods (K-means, hierarchical clustering, association rules, principal components).


• Cloud & Infrastructure: Experience with Cloud ML platforms, distributed computing, data pipelines, cloud data stores, and serving engines.


• Testing: Experience designing and analyzing A/B tests.


• Communication: Advanced skill in conveying rigorous technical concepts and considerations to non-specialists.


• Work Environment: Experience working in a dynamic environment, handling ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering results.


• Stakeholder Management: Experience effectively delivering technical solutions and advocating to research scientists, engineering teams, and business audiences.


• Business Impact: At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.


• Leadership: At least 2 years of direct management, indirect leadership, and/or cross-functional team leadership experience.


• Travel: Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in STEM, Computer Science, Information Systems, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or comparable field.


• Experience working with IoT and Edge AI is a plus.


• Experience in Reinforcement Learning is a plus.


• Experience in Healthcare industry is a plus.
