Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Data Engineer to lead the methodology and execution of incorporating new datasets that drive investigation and data science initiatives for arenaflex's Client Experience organization. This position is ideal for a data professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about leveraging data to create meaningful business outcomes.

The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for consolidating, organizing, and automating datasets from diverse sources including contact centers, e-commerce platforms, fulfillment operations, supply chain systems, and store operations. This role involves stitching and migrating various customer-related data sources into Google BigQuery, maintaining the data warehouse, designing and performing quality assurance, and providing ad-hoc reporting to support business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Develop Analytics Solutions (50%): Plan and build effective, user-friendly applications, reports, and dashboards using business intelligence tools such as MicroStrategy and SAS. Create intuitive visual representations of complex data that enable stakeholders to make informed decisions quickly and accurately.


• Collaborate with Business Leaders (25%): Work closely with executives and department leaders to identify business needs and gather requirements. Provide innovative solutions by building custom tools, reports, and predictive models that address specific business challenges. Automate reporting processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual workload.


• Research and Innovation (25%): Investigate and report on best practices and standards for utilizing business intelligence tools. Provide insights on industry trends and emerging technologies that can enhance arenaflex's data capabilities. Stay current with advancements in data engineering, cloud platforms, and analytics methodologies.


• Consolidate and organize data from multiple enterprise sources including contact center interactions, e-commerce transactions, fulfillment operations, and supply chain management systems.


• Design and implement data pipelines that integrate customer data from various touchpoints into Google BigQuery for advanced analytics and reporting.


• Maintain and optimize the data warehouse to ensure data integrity, performance, and scalability across all analytical platforms.


• Design and execute comprehensive quality assurance testing procedures to validate data accuracy and consistency.


• Respond to ad-hoc data requests from business stakeholders with quick turnaround times and accurate results.


• Document data processes, pipeline architectures, and technical specifications for knowledge sharing and team onboarding.

Essential Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related technical field. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.


• Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in data engineering, business intelligence, or analytics development roles, with demonstrated expertise in handling large-scale datasets.


• Technical Proficiency: Strong mastery of SQL with extensive experience in cloud-based data warehousing platforms, preferably Google BigQuery.


• Programming Skills: Solid proficiency in Python for data processing, automation, and analytical scripting.


• Data Pipeline Experience: Demonstrated experience with data orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow or similar workflow management platforms.


• BI Tools: Hands-on experience with business intelligence and visualization tools such as MicroStrategy, SAS, Tableau, or Power BI.


• Communication Skills: Excellent ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business language for non-technical stakeholders.


• Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to approach challenges creatively and develop innovative solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency in SQL with specific experience optimizing complex queries in BigQuery or similar cloud data warehouses.


• In-depth knowledge of Python for data manipulation, analysis, and building data processing pipelines.


• Strong understanding of Apache Airflow or Google Cloud Composer for orchestrating data workflows.


• Hands-on experience with data stitching processes—the practice of joining datasets from multiple sources to gain deep insights into customer behavior and journey, such as integrating contact center data with online purchase history.


• Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications for building comprehensive BI solutions.


• Experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data migration between platforms on regular cadence.


• Proven track record of exploring and analyzing organizational data to support statistical analysis and business intelligence initiatives.


• Prior experience in the retail, e-commerce, or consumer goods industry is highly desirable.


• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and architecture.


• Experience with machine learning workflows and integration of ML models into data pipelines.

The position is located in our New York office, with flexibility for remote work arrangements. Most work is performed in a comfortable indoor office environment.
