About the Firm

Industria Business Lawyers LLP is a multi-jurisdictional law firm with operations in Washington, D.C., Florida, and Massachusetts. The firm advises businesses across transactions, compliance, and disputes. We are scaling a new practice focused on IEEPA tariff refund recovery for small and mid-sized U.S. importers.

The Opportunity

Following the Supreme Court's invalidation of IEEPA-based tariffs, we are building a practice to recover overpaid duties on behalf of American businesses through administrative filings and litigation before the U.S. Court of International Trade. We are seeking experienced attorneys to join the firm in a senior capacity.

What We're Looking For

This practice sits at the intersection of trade law and tax recovery. The ideal candidate brings experience on one or both sides of that line, whether you've handled customs disputes and CBP proceedings, or built a practice around federal refund recovery and tax controversy. We are interested in attorneys who understand how to recover money from government agencies at scale, regardless of which side of the trade/tax divide your background falls on.

Role Overview

Provide strategic oversight for IEEPA tariff refund recovery matters

Advise on claim strategy, import entry data analysis, and recovery optimization

Prepare and review CBP refund applications, administrative protests, and CIT complaints

Oversee workflows across administrative filings, agency interactions, and litigation

Supervise paralegals and support staff handling documentation and claim preparation

Serve as lead counsel on complex, escalated, or high-value matters

Collaborate on practice development, client intake, and outreach

Required Qualifications

Active bar license in good standing in any U.S. jurisdiction

3+ years of experience as a practicing attorney

Experience in one or more of the following:

Customs law, tariff classification, or trade compliance

Tax controversy, refund litigation, or IRS dispute resolution

Federal administrative claims and agency recovery proceedings

Tax credit recovery programs (e.g., ERC, R&D credits)

International trade, import/export regulation, or CBP matters

Ability to manage high-volume, detail-oriented workflows

Strong independent judgment in a advisory role

Preferred Qualifications

Admission to the U.S. Court of International Trade (or willingness to apply)

Experience with CBP entry summaries, ACE portal, or customs data systems

CITBA membership

Background representing small and mid-sized businesses or importers

Experience developing or scaling a practice area

LLM in Taxation, Trade Law, or related specialization

Licensed Customs Broker, CPA, or EA designation

This role begins as an of counsel engagement with a potential path to partnership if interested. Compensation is based on level of experience, role scope, and contribution to the practice. We are open to discussing the arrangement that makes the most sense for the right candidate.
