Job Description: SAP S/4HANA TRM (Treasury & Risk Management) SME
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced SAP S/4HANA Treasury & Risk Management (TRM) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead the design, configuration, and optimization of treasury and financial risk processes within the S/4HANA environment. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise across S/4HANA TRM capabilities—including cash management, market risk, foreign exchange, derivatives, hedge accounting, and credit risk—and will serve as the primary advisor to finance and treasury stakeholders. This role plays a pivotal part in enabling financial risk mitigation, compliance, real-time visibility, and intelligent decision-making through the treasury and risk functionality of SAP S/4HANA.
Key Responsibilities
- Treasury & Risk Architecture
- Lead end-to-end solution design and configuration for the S/4HANA Treasury & Risk Management module.
- Advise on treasury transformation initiatives including cash management, deal management, exposure management, and hedge strategies.
- Define TRM roadmap, governance, and integration strategies with FI, CO, FSCM, and external market data providers.
- Evaluate financial risk exposure (FX, interest rate, market risk) and provide recommendations leveraging S/4HANA TRM capabilities.
- Functional Expertise & Configuration
- Configure and support core TRM processes:
- Market risk and interest rate risk management
- Foreign exchange exposure management & automated FX processes
- Derivatives management and hedge accounting
- Credit risk management, counterparty limits, and exposure reporting
- Cash and liquidity management, debt management, and financial transactions
- Oversee setup of market risk analyzers, risk analyzers, and valuation engines within TRM.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS/GAAP and regulatory requirements through proper configuration and reporting.
- Integration & Process Optimization
- Lead integration of TRM with Financial Accounting (FI), Controlling (CO), Bank Communication Management (BCM), and financial supply chain components.
- Coordinate with treasury, finance, and risk teams to automate processes and eliminate operational gaps.
- Implement intelligent technologies and embedded analytics for real-time treasury insights and risk reporting.
- Stakeholder Advisory & Support
- Act as the primary functional SME during workshops, blueprinting, testing, cutover, and hypercare.
- Provide expert advisory to treasury departments on hedging strategies, exposure management, and financial controls.
- Train end-users and business partners on TRM functionality, best practices, and reporting tools.
- Testing, Validation & Governance
- Create functional specifications, test scripts, and validation procedures for new enhancements.
- Drive UAT, regression testing, and defect resolution in coordination with cross-functional teams.
- Ensure governance, documentation, and audit readiness across treasury and risk processes.
- Required Skills & Qualifications
- 8–12+ years of hands-on experience in SAP Treasury & Risk Management, with at least one full lifecycle S/4HANA TRM implementation.
- Strong functional knowledge in:
- FX exposure management and FX hedging
- Interest rate and market risk management
- Derivatives management & hedge accounting (IAS 39 / IFRS 9)
- Cash/liquidity management and debt/loan management
- Credit risk and counterparty management
- Experience integrating TRM with FI/CO, banking interfaces, and external market data.
- Strong understanding of financial instruments, capital markets, risk methodologies, and accounting principles.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and documentation skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; Master’s preferred.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with embedded analytics, SAC (SAP Analytics Cloud), and intelligent automation in treasury.
- Exposure to S/4HANA migration projects (brownfield/greenfield).
- Knowledge of Bank Communication Management (BCM) and cash application tools.
