[Remote] Software Engineer, I - Metrics for Release Platform

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Torc Robotics is a leader in autonomous driving technology focused on developing software for automated trucks. As a Software Engineer I on the Metrics & Release team, you will contribute to cloud-based infrastructure for evaluating system performance and ensuring software updates meet safety standards.


Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of AWS-based data pipelines that process vehicle telemetry and validation data
  • Develop Python code and services supporting safety and performance metric computation
  • Assist in analyzing truck-generated data and translating it into measurable system signals
  • Support implementation of release validation logic tied to automated testing pipelines
  • Collaborate with systems, validation, and autonomy teams to help define meaningful KPIs and metrics
  • Investigate pipeline failures, data inconsistencies, and telemetry anomalies using logs and large-scale datasets
  • Support statistical analysis and reporting across validation and testing data
  • Participate in code reviews and collaborate with team members to deliver reliable, maintainable software

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field plus 0–4 years of relevant experience, OR Master's degree in a related technical field
  • Strong programming experience in Python
  • Familiarity with data processing, data pipelines, or working with large datasets
  • Basic understanding of cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS services such as S3, Lambda, ECS, or Step Functions
  • Basic understanding of statistics, data analysis, or metric computation
  • Ability to analyze system behavior through data and logs
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Exposure to robotics, autonomous systems, or sensor data processing
  • Experience working with telemetry, event data, or time-series datasets
  • Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Temporal, Airflow, or AWS Step Functions
  • Experience contributing to automated testing or validation pipelines
  • Experience working in safety-critical or high-reliability systems
