Our client, a reputable insurance provider, is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Remote Insurance Underwriter to join their fully remote team. This role is essential in evaluating insurance applications, assessing risk, and determining policy eligibility and terms. You will work independently from your home office, collaborating virtually with agents and clients to gather necessary information and make informed underwriting decisions. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of insurance principles, excellent analytical capabilities, and a commitment to providing exceptional service while managing risk effectively.

Key Responsibilities: Review and analyze insurance applications for various lines of business (e.g., property, casualty, life). Assess risks associated with applicants by evaluating financial data, loss history, medical records, and other relevant information. Determine policy eligibility, coverage limits, deductibles, and premiums in accordance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements. Communicate effectively with insurance agents, brokers, and sometimes policyholders to obtain additional information or clarify details. Utilize underwriting software and tools to process applications and manage case files efficiently. Maintain accurate and detailed records of underwriting decisions and rationale. Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and underwriting best practices. Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and product developments. Identify potential fraud indicators and escalate suspicious applications for further investigation. Contribute to the development and refinement of underwriting guidelines and manuals. Participate in virtual team meetings and training sessions. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in insurance underwriting, with a proven track record in risk assessment and decision-making. Strong understanding of insurance products, policy terms, and underwriting principles. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail. Proficiency in using underwriting software and standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite). Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment. Strong ethical standards and commitment to confidentiality. Relevant professional designations (e.g., CPCU, CIC) are a plus. Experience in a specific line of insurance (e.g., commercial property, auto) may be required depending on the specific focus of the role.
