Our client is actively seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Insurance Underwriter to join their fully remote team. This role is crucial for evaluating insurance applications, assessing risks, and determining appropriate coverage and premiums for complex commercial policies. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of underwriting principles, a strong analytical aptitude, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service while managing risk effectively. Responsibilities: Analyze and underwrite complex commercial insurance applications, including General Liability, Commercial Property, and Workers' Compensation. Assess risks by thoroughly evaluating financial statements, loss history, business operations, and industry-specific exposures. Determine coverage terms, conditions, pricing, and policy structures that align with company guidelines and profitability targets. Communicate effectively with agents, brokers, and policyholders to gather necessary information and explain underwriting decisions. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and agents. Mentor and provide guidance to junior underwriters, fostering skill development. Participate in portfolio reviews and contribute to the development of underwriting strategies. Identify opportunities for cross-selling and up-selling related insurance products. Ensure accurate data entry and record-keeping in underwriting systems. Stay informed about emerging risks and trends within the insurance market. Contribute to process improvements and efficiency enhancements within the underwriting department. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of comprehensive insurance underwriting experience, with a strong focus on commercial lines. Proven expertise in evaluating complex risks and developing appropriate policy terms. Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Strong understanding of insurance contracts, policy language, and regulatory requirements. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence. Proficiency in underwriting software and standard office applications. Professional designations such as CPCU, AU, or equivalent are highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage a demanding workload in a remote setting.
