Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. CopperPoint Insurance Companies is a leading provider of workers’ compensation and commercial insurance solutions. They are seeking an Accountant II to perform intermediate-level accounting transactions, financial reporting, and financial analysis while ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and company policies.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual regulatory reports/filings for the Company and its subsidiaries; analyze filing documents for variances and or anomalies; works collaboratively with senior staff and manager in the analysis of complex accounting issues
  • Prepare and analyze monthly journal entries; prepare and review account reconciliations; assist in the validation of general ledger balances and financial statement line items; participates in month-end close process
  • Participates with and provides support for internal and external audits; prepares audit work-papers that support the various audits

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited four-year college or university
  • 1-3 years related experience in an accounting environment
  • Intermediate knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, insurance accounting principles and procedures, and the laws and regulations that apply to accounting and regulatory compliance
  • Intermediate analytical skills to accurately analyze large volumes of numerical data
  • Intermediate level analysis, evaluation skills & mathematical reasoning to efficiently resolve errors within a financial process, system workflow logic, or procedure
  • Computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other relevant software
  • Knowledge in utilizing accounting systems for transaction processing
  • Analytical with attention to detail, strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet required deadlines
