The Role:
As a Principal Pharmacist with us, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, effective, and accessible delivery of pharmaceutical services across GenesisCare UK. Working closely with the Head of Pharmacy, you will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight, partnering with Lead Pharmacists to deliver high-quality medicines management, optimise clinical systems, and drive continuous improvement. This is your opportunity to influence national pharmacy practice while making a meaningful impact on patient care.
This is a full-time role (37.5 hours, Monday–Friday) on a permanent basis. While the position is home-based, it is a national role, and you will be required to travel on a weekly basis to our UK network of centres depending on business needs. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
What You'll Do:
• Lead the safe and effective provision of pharmacy services across GenesisCare UK, supporting Lead Pharmacists and Centre teams.
• Manage and optimise pharmacy clinical systems (including iQemo, Rx Web, and MedNet), ensuring chemotherapy regimens are accurate, up to date, and safely delivered.
• Drive standardisation of pharmacy practices across centres, identifying areas for improvement and implementing sustainable solutions.
• Develop and implement clinical audit programmes, ensuring compliance with policies and continuous service improvement.
• Provide hands-on operational and clinical support to centres where required, ensuring service resilience and high standards of care.
• Lead on training, onboarding, and competency frameworks for pharmacy teams, ensuring consistent development and performance.
• Line manage Lead Pharmacists and Procurement Technician, fostering a culture of accountability, development, and high performance.
• Support medicines management strategies, including responding to national medicine shortages and coordinating clinical and procurement priorities.
• Contribute to policy development, protocol management, and governance processes across oncology and haematology services.
• Act as a senior escalation point for pharmacy teams and deputise for the Head of Pharmacy when required.
What You'll Have:
• MPharm or BPharm qualification and registration with the GPhC.
• Independent Prescriber (IP) qualification.
• Significant experience in oncology and/or haematology pharmacy, with a strong commitment to evidence-based practice.
• Experience in screening and verifying SACT prescriptions and working with electronic prescribing systems.
• Proven experience in clinical audit, protocol development, and medicines governance.
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to influence across multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent organisational, planning, and IT skills.
• Ability to communicate complex clinical information clearly across professional boundaries.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development (CPD) and supporting others in their development.
• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential due to national travel requirements).
