Position Overview: Pharmacy Service Representative

As a Pharmacy Service Representative at arenaflex, you will be the vital link between our patients, healthcare providers, insurance companies, and our pharmacy team. Your primary responsibility will be to provide exceptional telephone support to patients receiving life-sustaining specialty drug therapy. You will be responsible for the overall coordination and processing of new patient medication orders and reorders. This includes verifying and revivifying benefits, translating and entering new or refill prescriptions into our pharmacy information system, communicating and collecting copay amounts, obtaining authorizations, and working collaboratively with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and internal teams to screen, identify, resolve, and defer orders that have accounts receivable or clinical issues.

Key Responsibilities

As a Pharmacy Service Representative, your daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to:


  • Patient Telephone Support: Provide compassionate, professional telephone support to patients receiving specialty drug therapies. Listen attentively to patient concerns, answer questions, and provide accurate information about their medications and treatment plans.
  • Order Processing: Handle the overall coordination and processing of new patient medication orders and reorders. Ensure all information is accurately entered into our pharmacy information system and verify that prescriptions are complete and valid.
  • Benefits Verification: Verify and revivify patient insurance benefits to ensure coverage for specialty medications. Work diligently to maximize benefits and minimize out-of-pocket costs for patients.
  • Copay Communication: Effectively communicate copay amounts to patients, collect payments, and explain financial responsibilities. Help patients understand their insurance coverage and payment options.
  • Authorization Management: Obtain prior authorizations from insurance companies as required for specialty medications. Work with healthcare providers to gather necessary documentation and ensure timely approval of prescriptions.
  • Insurance Coordination: Collaborate with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and internal teams to resolve claims issues, address denials, and ensure smooth processing of specialty medication orders.
  • Issue Resolution: Screen, identify, and resolve accounts receivable and clinical issues that may arise during the order fulfillment process. Defer orders appropriately when necessary and communicate proactively with all relevant parties.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all patient interactions, communications, and transactions in our system. Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: Meet or exceed performance metrics related to call handling time, customer satisfaction, accuracy, and resolution rates. Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and patient experience.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:


  • Customer Service Experience: A minimum of one year experience in a customer service role handling and resolving a high volume of complex customer needs over the phone. You must demonstrate the ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively de-escalate situations while maintaining professionalism.
  • Technical Proficiency: One year of work experience with Windows-based applications, including Microsoft Office, internet navigation, and email applications. You should be comfortable learning new software systems quickly.
  • Keyboard Skills: One year of computer keyboarding experience with demonstrated skills and aptitude for fast, accurate data entry. Strong typing speed and accuracy are essential for this role.
  • Residency Requirement: Candidates must reside in the state of Florida and be located within 75 miles of our Orlando facility at 9310 Southpark Center Loop, Orlando, FL, 32819.
  • Education: Verifiable high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Work Schedule and Location

This is a work-from-home position, and candidates must reside in Florida. You will be based remotely but must reside within 75 miles of our Orlando specialty pharmacy location. We are currently offering the following work schedules:


  • 11:30 AM - 8:00 PM EST

  • 12:30 PM - 9:00 PM EST

You will be provided with the necessary equipment, including a computer and headset, to perform your duties effectively from your home office. Initial training will be conducted virtually, and ongoing support will be available to ensure your success.
