Payment Systems Consultant - REMOTE

Contract Duration: 5 months

    Day-to-day Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with the Global Payment application to process payment transactions for ecommerce merchants.
  • Manage billing and payment account information, enabling customers to store accounts for future use.
  • Handle payment requests, manage retries for failed attempts, and generate nightly transaction logs for reconciliation and accounting.
  • Support various payment methods, including Credit Cards, Wallets (Visa Checkout, PayPal), OMAS, and ACH for business customers.
  • Required Skills:
  • Strong understanding of the payment industry, including gateways, processors, and acquiring banks.
  • In-depth knowledge of payment types: Credit Cards, ACH, PayPal, Digital Wallets (Visa SRC, Apple Pay), and alternative methods.
  • Proficiency in payment processing workflows: authorization, capture, settlement, chargebacks, refunds, and disputes.
  • Experience with subscription billing models or recurring payments.
  • Familiarity with PCI DSS and GDPR regulations.
  • Agile Methodology Expertise:
  • Proficient in Agile frameworks like Scrum and Kanban.
  • Expertise in backlog grooming, sprint planning, and defining acceptance criteria.
  • Ability to translate business user stories into detailed technical stories and ensure alignment with development teams.
  • Experience with Agile tools like VersionOne and ALM.
  • Business Analysis and Communication:
  • Strong ability to bridge business stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Proven experience in eliciting requirements and conducting stakeholder workshops.
  • Ability to create wireframes, process diagrams, and user flows.
  • Problem-Solving and Decision-Making:
  • Ability to troubleshoot payment processing issues and propose scalable solutions.
  • Decision-making skills to prioritize features or technical debt.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Familiarity with high-volume and high-visibility payment systems.
  • Hands-on experience with payment-related APIs (REST, SOAP, XML, JSON).
  • Understanding of encryption and tokenization techniques.
  • Exposure to payment orchestration platforms and tools.
  • Knowledge of payment fraud detection and mitigation techniques.
  • Experience with batch and real-time transaction processing systems.
  • Required Experience Level:
  • Minimum of 10-12 years' experience, preferably in technology or software development.
  • Education:
  • A degree from an accredited college/university in a relevant field is preferred.
